Pop superstar Taylor Swift is doubling down on her new social justice warrior persona with the release of her latest music video, a full-blown LGBT anthem that depicts those who hold a Christian view of homosexuality and a bilogical view of sex as angry, dim-witted rednecks.
NBC News describes the video for You Need to Calm Down as a vibrantly colored, surreal trek through a pastel-colored trailer park, with anti-LGBT protesters being faced down or ignored by the flamboyantly dressed stars that culminates with [sic] a massive foot fight. Celebrity guests include Katy Perry, Ellen Degeneres, Ryan Reynolds, and Laverne Cox.
The video includes caricatures of anti-LGBT protesters as screaming rednecks with cartoonish hair and tattered clothes, bearing signs such as homosexuality is sin and a misspelled get a brain morans.
You are somebody that we dont know, but you are coming at my friends like a missile, Swift sings. Why are you mad? When you could be GLAAD? (The official lyrics video spells the word glad with two As, a reference to the LGBT activist group.) The lyrics also tell the straw-man version of Swifts foes that they would rather be in the dark ages and need to control your urges to scream about all the people you hate, cause shade never made anybody less gay.
The video ends with text exhorting viewers: Lets show our pride by demanding that, on a national level, our laws truly treat all of our citizens equally. Please sign my petition for Senate support of the Equality Act on change.org.
The so-called Equality Act would add sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity to federal non-discrimination categories in public accommodations, expand the definition of public accomodations to include recreation, shopping, online retailers, health care services, and other kinds of establishments, and force anyone employing 15 or more people to recognize their claimed gender identity and mandate transgender access to opposite-sex restrooms, locker rooms, and dressing rooms.
Taylor Swift is one of the worlds biggest pop stars. The fact that she continues to use her platform and music to support the LGBTQ community and the Equality Act is a true sign of being an ally, GLAAD director of talent engagement Anthony Ramos said. You Need to Calm Down is the perfect Pride anthem, and were thrilled to see Taylor standing with the LGBTQ community to promote inclusivity, equality, and acceptance this Pride month.
For years, liberals attacked Swift for her relative silence on political and cultural causes. She gave in to the pressure last year, first by endorsing Tennessees former Democrat governor Phil Bredesen in his failed Senate race against Republican Marsha Blackburn. In April, the country-turned-pop star donated $113,000 to the left-wing Tennessee Equality Project (TEP) to combat a series of bills before the Tennessee legislature to protect private entities religious and conscience rights and reject state recognition of same-sex marriage. Swift and TEP dubbed the legislation a Slate of Hate.
And thats just the ones who can actually carry a tune and project their voices without autotune!
Does anybody really care what Taylor Swift is doing? The media keeps pushing her, but I do not care.
Taylor's social credit would be destroyed. She stayed quite for years and got associated with Nazis, is it any wonder why she finally decided to come out (using the safest position possible, I mean really who is going to bad mouth gays during Pride Month)
It's like me "coming out" in support of tax cuts , something any flaccid Republican would support
Thus endeth her career

Yeh, shades of Dixie Chicks. On the other hand, appears to me that shes not doing much country anymore. So, may not matter to her.
Perhaps that is why they tussled with each other for so long, they are more similar than what they like to admit.
Thanks!
I will check them out!
I love the music from True Grit
No, I can’t think of a comparable female singer today. I have enjoyed the singing of some of the modern country women like Gretchen Wilson (what happened to her?), Miranda Lambert (Mama’s Broken Heart and others) and Carrie Underwood. They all belt out songs but they sound good.
Shes a Yankee
Not a Tennessean
Although with women now running music row its moved left decidedly
No, the gays are the barbaric fools repeating mistakes of the past. Nothing new under this sun.
I like the song and the video, funny bits of it, and was at first offended by the way the anti-gay protesters looked, but then I realize she has them picketing their homes (or vacation spot). Its a free republic and everyone should be able to live how they wish. So anyone who would literally picket the home of someone for their dress or sexual orientation deserves to be badly portrayed.
Not reading this thread because its Im sure full of hate. Im a Taylor Swift fan. She writes and performs great songs. Shes great to her fans. She wants to get more political, uhhhh, I guess so far its not so bad - just supporting LGBTQ individuals. I do hope she stops her politics and gets back to love and stuff.
Sarah Vaughn was a great, great singer! I love having Sirius in my car. (I just bought it.)
I love classic rock. My husband doesn’t so on long trips I don’t often hear the heart-poundingly beautiful sound of an electric guitar. But we do listen to other amazing types of music. But I’d rather be sick than listen to something called Taylor Swift.
LOL - Thanks for reminding me about the All Powerful white Mormon Vote in California.
I had completely forgotten the MSM was relentlessly pushing that propaganda theme.
LOL 2 - I guess that explains why Romney won California in the 2012 presidential election?
What kind of dumb$hit intentionally pisses off 50% or more of her fans... now ex fans?
You and me both re Swift. I havent actually heard her that Im aware, but knowing already that shes in the vein of Shania Twain (modern country, blecchh, at least in her day), and other autotuned talentless wonders, I feel qualified to opine on her without hearing her.
My DH doesnt like the harder classic rock that I like, but he does love Bob Seger and a few others, so we manage on long trips (plus, he used to defer to me until he couldnt take anymore of The Who, Zeppelin, Little Feat, Steely Dan, etc-back before he got cancer and we took trips together). We both liked Hank Jr and a few others. Otherwise, hes a golden oldies guy, my day was the music of the early-mid Seventies (think the movie Dazed And Confused). I dont care for golden oldies except Elvis, but I can tolerate some in the interests of fairness :) Oh, and DH loved Fleetwood Mac, mostly because of Stevie Nicks. And he liked Pat Benatar. I like the guitar gods, John McLaughlin, Larry Carlton, and good drummers like John Bonham, Keith Moon (as he said, he was the best Who-style drummer at any rate, lol), Bill Bruford, Ginger Baker (though the man himself is a prick), Barriemore Barlow (Jethro Tull, and named by John Bonham as the best rock drummer in England), etc.
I thought it was just me, I love the movie (the original John Wayne version) and the soundtrack.
I call that bold talk for a one-eyed fat man
Fill your hands you sonuvabitch!
Also love Bernard Hermanns soundtrack for Vertigo. I can see the movie before my eyes just by listening to it.
In my opinion she has done the calculations and this move would lose her a far smaller number of fans than you or I think. She must have checked this, she is generally a very smart business woman
Because the left is intolerant.
