Let’s say you hated Donald Trump. First for personal reasons. He embodies everything that you at once detest and envy:
The tan, confident jock guys in high school who dated the really hot girls. You pretended not to care, as you sat veal-white under the flickering fluorescent library lights, fiercely underlining passages in Ayn Rand, Nietzsche, or Trotsky. The business majors in college, who yawned through the Humanities classes which you found so fascinating, you sometimes out-talked the professor. The hedge fund managers and real estate magnates those same guys became, showing up at your ten-year reunion in their $1000 suits, the vulgarians. It didn’t bother you, though. You just sat with your friends from the school paper, talking about how empty the inner lives of those “money-grubbers” must be. You Deplore the Deplorables But even more, you loathe what Donald Trump represents. The people he represents:

Netanyahu will never leave office with Iran’s nuclear infrastructure intact. His wife just got convicted of corruption and he faces a repeat election which he may possibly lose. There is little doubt that Mossad has not only identified the locations and nature of all of Iran’s nuclear facilities but has also defined the best lines of attack. No doubt this information has been shared with the bunker buster, stealth aircraft equipped US military. Iran is desperate and badly hurt by the sanctions. If they attack an American ship, many mullahs will achieve martyrdom, and their nuclear facilities will be destroyed.
Some overeager, angry, jihadist Iranian Republican Guard junior officer just might start a war. The stage is set.

I think this is exactly what is going on — get him into a war, any way possible, then blame him, using it tio try to prevent his reelection.
Just hoping that both Trump and his supporters are smart enough to see through this effort for what it is.

I am sure Trump will do the right thing, not be influenced by these idiot Democrats, for whom defeating Trump is more important than the US and its people, us.
With Trump it should be a very short war.

Actually, I was wondering if the ship mining was exactly that. It was a cadre of junior officers who got Japan into a war with China. You can only use intense propaganda for so long before it creates its own reality. The same thing could happen in North Korea or anywhere people are continuously pumped full of political lies. We see a version of that here where Democrats have been saying wearing a MAGA hat is the same as a physical assault. That is why so many, probably unstable, Democrats are responding to this “physical” hat attack with physical violence. Propaganda is dangerous.

Trump is the guy who stuffed them into lockers. And, when they finally made it in the political / bureaucratic world, Trump comes along and shows that all their “learning”, and “experience”, and polls, focus groups, predictive analysis etc... is all futile against a guy who defies PC crap and tells it like it is !

A lot of my conservative and veteran friends are beating the war drums on Facebook. It’s sad. Troops on our border? Damn right. Troops to defend Japanese and Norwegian tankers in the Persian Gulf? Hell no.

By 5 years into his administration, he realized what a disastrous mistake he’d made, and refused their proposal for actIi, bombing Iran. He was so mad at them he even refused to pardon Scooter Libby. But it was all too late; he’d already ruined his presidency and his reputation, and no (or next to no)Republican candidate since has asked W to campaign for them. How different from Reagan, who had god-like status with Republicans till the end of his life and still today. But Reagan didn’t invade countries - and even pulled out of Lebanon instead of getting bogged down in war. Reagan was smart. Bush was dumb. I hope Trump has drawn the proper conclusion

Trump is president. If there is a war with Iran it’s on his head and not Bolton’s or Pompeo’s or any NeverTrumper.
