Why didn’t the writer speak to his party’s violence against Christians?

Because there isn’t any.

He includes Christians as a throw away to pull us into the anti-Muslim stance his party has.

Why didn’t the author of the article mention this?

Because it didn't fit his agenda.

Modi has to deliver, economically. He can’t and he won’t due to internal demographic and Indian cultural problems that will prevent all the economic reforms needed. As Indian economic growth falters, so will Modi and so will support for the Hindu nationalists.

The problem will then become how the Hindu nationalists will respond to a loss of legislative clout. Will they set aside Hidu nationalism in order to coalesce with others on true economic reforms? Or will they move from elective politics to other forms of disagreeing with whatever coalition develops to replace them as leaders in the national assembly? Time will tell.

One of the big differences between China and India is that the Han have always had more control over more of China than the Hindu have had in India for a very long time now. There has for a long time been much more homgeniety in most of China (not couning Tibet, other Tibetan rich provinces, and the province of Xinjiang which use to always be a Muslim-Uighur majority province) than there has been in India. Homegeniety, as in Japan and the Nordic countries, usually finds getting national agreement on policies easier.
