DUBAI, United Arab Emirates - (AP) -- Mysterious attacks on oil tankers near the strategic Strait of Hormuz this week show how one of the world's crucial chokepoints for global energy supplies can be easily targeted, 30 years after the U.S. Navy and Iran were entangled in a similarly shadowy conflict called the "Tanker War."
While the current tensions are nowhere near the damage done then, it underscores how dangerous the situation is and how explosive it can become.

Iran’s economics is totally dependent on oil export. Iran has cast the first action of war in the Persian Gulf and the Oman sea. It would be most easy to bring their ability to export oil from their most venerable ports to zero in a couple of days. One must just hit their pipelines and pumping stations if we are nice. If we are not nice it would be Kharg Island and their other oil holding facilitates and loading stations. Oil really burn nicely.

Oil is a global market.
If US producers can make mor4 $$$ selling to countries cut off from their normal supplies they will do it.
Even if the US consumer suffers.
