Actor Danny Glover and writer Ta-Nehisi Coates are heading to Congress to testify about reparations for the ancestors of slaves.
Glover, 72, is the star of the Lethal Weapon film series among other movies and shows. Coates, 43, is an author and journalist who penned the The Case for Reparations, a 2014 essay in The Atlantic. The piece became a touchstone for the cause and helped push the matter into the national discourse.
The hearing will be held Wednesday in the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Civil Liberties. The goal of the hearing is to examine, through open and constructive discourse, the legacy of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade, its continuing impact on the community and the path to restorative justice.

All slave owners who owned slaves, who are still alive
can negotiate
with all owned slaves, who are still alive.
We’ve already paid reparations. Generations of welfare and affirmative action.
While their relatives are still living in grass huts and dying of ebola back in the home country, these people were given free housing and priority admission to higher education.
Just because they refused to take advantage of it is no reason for us to continue paying.
(BTW my family came over here in the 1900’s I don’t owe anyone a dime!)
“Is he a star?”

Don’t bill me my kin were fighting johnny reb for your freedom. Then again, if danny’s kin folks hadn’t been brought here he probably wouldn’t be alive. Pestilence, disease, tribal warfare.
Pandering season is here again, I see.
Trying to buy back the black vote after all the pandering to illegals.
The Democrat Party owes me a LOT of money.
Among the numerous problems with “reparations” is deciding “who pays” and “who receives” and by what formulation. Is Danny Glover some sort of high-powered actuary? No. He’s an actor who pretty much hasn’t worked in the last 25 years. So I’m supposed to listen to him... because... why?
I hate it when Congress puts on these dog & pony shows!
examine, through open and constructive discourse, the legacy of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade, its continuing impact on the community and the path to restorative justice.
Translation: FREE MONEY!!!!
Somebody needs to tell Danny Glover about the Civil War.
That was more than is measurable.
Im too old for this shit...
Me want promised wampum, and five buffalo hide.
So he is going to go after the African countries that sold his family into slavery?
Or maybe the Majority Muslim countries in the middle east that played a role in it?
Oh, I see he is going to claim that the US was built and prospered because of his ancestors, and that America would not be as wealthy and powerful if it weren’t for them.
Even though there is NO wealthy and powerful majority black country anywhere on this rock.
Guy is a drool bucket.
Danny already got his reps
Affirmative actiond his entire career
and me - my grandparents were basically indentured servants in Denmark.
Why isn’t he going to Venezuela?
Reparations were already paid: in blood! No one alive today is a slave, was a slave, or had anything to do with slavery.
Irrelevant. Even if all of your ancestors of military age in 1960 fought for the Confederacy
YOU DON'T OWE DANNY GLOVER, OR ANY OTHER LIVING BLACK PERSON, ANY AMOUNT OF "REPARATIONS".
The whole business is BS.
This is America, land of opportunity. The Danny Glovers of the world need to man up and quit blaming other people for their lack of success.
It doesn’t matter how much it costs, I will happily support paying it, with one condition - that the bill gets marked “paid in full”.
Just a new way to give money to non-working blacks so they can stay that way.
