Don’t give AOC any ideas.
We underestimate the power of people.
You have a group of people who are accustomed to the good life, as in Hong Kong and Taiwan....
If you take that freedom away from them, you’ll get a very strong revolt, so much so that people will die rather than lose what they have.
China is underestimating Hong Kong. A million people? That means there’s probably another million ready to revolt.
Give people in North Korea a taste of the good like, and the two sides wil reunify.
Trump knows this.
IT’s just a matter of time, and this will happen in Iran, and South America etc.
People who are free wish to stay free.
Hong Kong is in a tight spot. Extradition treaties with say, The US and Spain are between two sovereign states. Independent separate entities. Since 1997 Hong Kong IS a part of China. “One China, two systems.” Pushing for this law is essentially breaking down that “two systems” brick by brick and losing self governing, falling completely under China’s iron fist. To not fight this, the slippery slope becomes a slippery cliff.
[If Xi orders another Tiananmen-style assault on civilians, it might cut China off from the markets it needs to keep its grip on everyone else in China, if those repercussions last long enough.
Of course, they didnt last anywhere near long enough after Tiananmen Square, the anniversary of which just passed in recent days. Have we learned a lesson from that failure?]
Hong Kong organ donor donations will become inexpensive after “extradition” to China chop hospitals.
And Congress made them favored trade status.
What Free Trade is trading is YOU!
Hang on to your liver!
Wow, a million people in the street. That’s a big deal.
Shades Of Tiananmen? Only if they begin to fire armor piercing rounds and heavy weapons continuously for 48 hours ...
Hong Kong population: 7m
Hong Kong GDP: $341bn ($48k per capita)
16 of China's 31 provinces have a lower total GDP... but only 3 have a smaller population
Hainan population: 9m
Hainan GDP: $73bn ($8k per capita)
Gansu population: 26m
Gansu GDP: $124bn ($5k per capita)
Heilongjiang population: 38m
Heilongjiang GDP: $247bn ($6k per capita)
(my all-time favorite state name... translates to "Black Dragon River"... take that Arizona and Colorado)
Henan population: 94m
Henan GDP: $726bn ($8k per capita)
China's overall average GDP per capita is $9600
We should be helping these protesters (In Hong Kong, Iran and elsewhere) by any means possible.
If the world can live with a communist China, it must accept another Tianamin square type of treatment. What is communism without mass murder? It is like love and marriage
If it was shades of Tiananmin they would be hauling the bodies out in semi-trailer loads.
This is exactly what China needs as they try to topple Trump in a trade war: one of their biggest economic crown jewels exploding into chaos!
