Porfirio Munoz Ledo said in an interview that the U.S.s territory is large enough to hold triple its current population and can accommodate another century of immigration.

This is why I stated prior that we had no right to dictate/meddle in Russian affairs (Ukraine, Chechnya).
Many here KNOW what the U.S. needs to do but NO ONE is willing to publicly-admit it (save for a few of us).

Did anyone believe Mexico would honor the deal?
More on Porfirio Munoz Ledo from the 80's:
Munoz Ledo is a member of the governing Institutional Revolutionary Party's liberal wing, which is traditionally critical of the United States. He has enthusiastically promoted Mexico's support for Third World causes, particularly those aimed against the United States.

What does Mexico's 'Speaker of the House' and the United States' Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi have in common?
They're BOTH on the drug cartels' payroll!

I'm surprised somebody in the Mexican government openly stated and actually admitted to the whole world that Mexico has no control over who enters their country.
He should get an award. Whether for bravery or for idiocy...let the reader decide.
I'll go with idiocy.

So we should completely shut down the border and cross-border commerce with Mexico. They’ll die in 60 days.

Mexico assists illegal aliens in crossing their country to reach our border.
Mexican politicians are lying about not being able to “do anything”. Previously Mexico would “send back them” who crossed their southern border illegally.

An equivalent statement would be “Mexico is not a sovereign country”.
Which means that the “government” of Mexico is little more than an armed gang - pirates, or terrorists.

They're BOTH on the drug cartels' payroll! Bingo!
In Afghanistan we are funding both sides of the war because of our domestic consumption of drugs. In Mexico we have created a narco state with our insatiable demand for drugs. We have also created a demand for illegal immigrants with our suicidal policies that fund coyotes and drug cartels who are nimble entrepreneurs in the business of smuggling humans.
Our drug policy has turned Mexico into a narco state and made it fatuous to believe that the Mexicans can stop either drugs or immigrants even if they wanted to, and they don't.
We can send tens of thousands of soldiers along the border or we can legalize drugs in America. Neither party will let us do either. Until we do at least one, we will make no real or permanent progress.
We will not solve the immigration problem as long as Mexico is a narco state.
We will never solve the drug problem as long as drugs are illegal.
If we do not solve the immigration and drugs problem we will not be in a condition to contend with China.

'Porfirio Munoz Ledo said... that the U.S.s territory is large enough to hold triple its current population and can accommodate another century of immigration.' And become Mexico and Central America - all wrapped into one. How dare this anti-American politician from a corrupt country presume to tell us how many people we need and what our demographics should be.
