If you ask those same women to define “socialism” you would get 100 different answers. Bottom line is that they don’t even know what it means to be a Socialist.
A majority of those women actually have in mind the big-government mixed economies of Europe, without actually understand the political and economic realities of that region very well.
They do not have in mind complete state control of production, which is the more classical definition of “socialism”—”democratic” or not.
It’s easy to get approvals of socialism. Until people read the fine print.
[[55% of women between 18 and 54 would prefer to live in a socialist country than a capitalist country.]]
Government as daddy.
I wouldn’t pay too much attention to a “poll” by Harris for Axios.
They want to be cared for, especially by a "sugar daddy." And what bigger "sugar daddy" is there than the federal government?
Ditto for my wife; she has morphed from a Clinton-supporting dem in the 1990s to a rock-solid conservative.
The more so re: racial minorities, but I think it is understandable why such group exclusions are, indeed, un-American.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. Female suffrage was a terrible mistake.
It may indeed be losing its Soviet-era stigma.
But it will never lose its Soviet-era RESULTS.
Brazil: I feel like I'm taking crazy pills! I invented the Brazilian, I invented it! What have you done, Cuba?
My ex wife prefers theft to working too.
Women are naturally dependent. If it is not dependent on their husband, then it is on the state.
BINGO!
What? No approval entry for the YUGE %\chunk of one’s paycheck?
How ‘bout the “approval rate” for the trampling of Rights (4th, 5th, 9th, 10th, 13th, 14th)?
my guess is it’s even higher than 55%.
repeal the 19TH ... solve numerous problems simultaneously ...
Yes! Some men are bad enough but I still think they have more sense when voting BUT some women should be required to take a test on their voting capabilities!
The Burden of Freedom is too much for some people.
When you’re portrayed as a victim, personal responsibility is eliminated when your situation always someone else’s fault.
LOL - the hype or the reality?
The hype is free medical care, safety net women could happily live in, free day care, free college... etc.
The reality Cuba, North Korea, Venezuela, China... thugs run the hellholes, starvation and 'midnight knocks' are common... torture and murder by the state are common.
Presidents like Reagan and Trump can slow the progress or push it off the rails for short times but they are short time phenomena and when they are gone the engine climbs back onto the rails.
Reagan got us the end of the USSR and 25 years of prosperity after his term had ended. The establishment is much bigger and more entrenched now than then. Trump can get us maybe 5 or 10 additional years.
Too many think Socialism means 1970s Sweden - free love and free money for all the happy, smiling people.
Tuition free education: 72%
The weeding out process in Europe is fierce. Despite the Harry Potterish view of A level exams as a pathway for everyone to get their witches cert, in reality, the mediocre, the marginal and the uninterested in actual academics do not get money thrown at them to piffle and fritter their six or ten years away while partying.
A tuition free-for-all might work for a while, but the bill will come due and the admissions process will change to reflect a different, higher standard. A lot of universities’ piffle programs will end, and a lot more will become rather nice senior homes, retaurants and shopping venues, and in most places, institutions for the terminally insane. Perhaps most of the SJW professors whose Ph.D. treatises were filled with nonsensical blather and unicorns will reside there permanently.
