We're just lazy malcontents, like Kurt Schlichter. ;-)
Many Establishment Republicans are Intellectual Wannabes first, and Conservatives second. Approval from their Deep State friends, neighbors, and relatives is more important to them than winning on Conservative principles. They are more happy to be the Quisling minority than standing up to the new Socialists in the Democrat Party. These people are not our friends and they are not looking out for the country.
Never Trumpers should be called what they are, Collaborators.
“David French is the poster-scold for the Surrender Caucus”
No one had ever heard of this miserable little quisling until the Jonah Goldberg National Review selected him to replace the equally unknown Egg McMuffin. Evan McMullin. Whatever.
This reminds me how exposure of Jeff Session as Judas took me totally off-guard.
Unfortunately Buckley is the culprit who turned over National Review to the losers who have run it into the ground.
He was still around when it became a mouthpiece for Bush Republicanism.
“Im not a software expert, but it seems to me that a small bunch of smart people could write the code for a YouTube competitor over a long holiday weekend.
Software isn’t a problem. Market Power and massive investment in server farms is a problem.
The absence of competitors in the lucrative social media world is itself a big clue that there are barriers of entry that aren’t obvious on the surface. A firm need only control 25% of a market to exert market power, and the social media platforms control far above 25%.
While I think a lot of what Kurt Schlichter says about Never Trumpers is correct, I don’t think his analysis of people like French fully captures what’s going on with them.
I haven’t bothered to read most of French’s idiocy, but I gather he was dismissive of the theories that the Deep State had illegally meddled in the election 2016 (and continued to do things even after) and was saying Devin Nunes should stop digging to find out what had happened. He thought there was something wrong with Nunes, and all those who thought he was on to something.
What I’m saying is, French and other Never Trumpers don’t have all their marbles. It’s not just being wimps or identifying with the establishment, although that may be a part of it.
The fact is most of them don’t have both oars in the water, and many of their statements, including those of French, clearly reflect that. People who keep taking the arguments they come up with seriously, such as out of the blue formulating all these new rules for what conservatism is, and trying to respond in some logical fashion, don’t get that. They should just be dismissed as the loons that they are.
