Just go ahead and commit crimes. All is forgiven.

Now, now, don’t exaggerate. He said he wouldn’t prosecute property crimes for life’s necessities as long as they weren’t being resold. Go to Walmart, fill up the cart with meat, cheese, eggs, toilet paper, diapers, Tide Pods, maybe a TV and as long as your cart doesn’t total over $750, you won’t be prosecuted.

Your 11# nails it!

"The problem" is that the evolving social and political practices of certain communities just doesn't do a good job of growing responsible members. The failures, of course, tend to migrate and overwhelm marginal communities.

...and when a felon is employed and then commits another felony, particularly on the job, who gets sued? That’s correct - the bleeding heart employer who tried to give the felon a “second chance”.

BTW, the BLS reports there are now more help wanted openings than there are unemployed people. As Rush says, that’s literal “full employment” meaning if somebody can’t get a job, the problem is the individual, not the society.

Understood. Though I don’t think it would require force. Either way, you’ve identified just how serious the problem may be for at least done Excons. If they can’t fibd jobs or shelter, we can’t expect anything other than they will return to crime. To survive. Realistically, we need to help them get into an honest life path. Or we are helping manufacture a lot of crime that we as a society really don’t need. And extra tragedies —-for no positive reason or purpose at all. Imho.

A neighbor a couple of miles away told me he shot some raccoons on his deck early one morning and shortly afterward his phone rang. It was another neighbor asking him if he needed a hole dug.

It’s good to have thoughtful neighbors who know how to keep quiet.

“I suspect she’s not too bright or well educated.”

Her educational accomplishments include completion of the FBI National Academy, Major Cities Chiefs Executive Leadership Institute (PELI IV), two Masters of Science degrees in Security Administration and Intelligence Analysis, from the University of Detroit Mercy, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Grambling State University.

I agree on the first part of your comment, and education definitely doesn’t equal intelligence, but you’re not going to be chief of a big city police department without the proper credentials. I won’t comment on the quality of her education.

Oh man. If socioeconomic status was truly the cause, I should have committed genocide by now.. Yet it hasn’t happened...

Living on less than a grand monthly in Chicago is extremely difficult. Way less than a grand, actually.. Closer to $500.
