Republican senators sent the White House a sharp message on Tuesday, warning that they were opposed to President Trump’s plans to impose tariffs on Mexican imports, just hours after the president said lawmakers would be “foolish” to try to stop him.

...

“I want you to take a message back” to the White House, Senator Ted Cruz, Republican of Texas, told the attorneys, according to people familiar with the meeting. “You didn’t hear a single yes” from the Republican conference. He called the proposed tariffs a $30 billion tax hike on Texans.

How many billions has illegal immigration cost Texans, Senator?

Wrong question. How many billions has Mexican Free trade BENEFITTED Texans.

And the answer is $100 Billion.

"The answer however, is not imposing tariffs against Mexico," Cruz said, noting that his state's businesses import over $100 billion in goods each year - and enjoy a trade surplus back with the Mexicans.

Can someone give me a quick explanation of how this tariff thing works.

Is it added to the price of something coming in from Mexico?
Or are we talking about adding it to the goods going to Mexico?

Look to the US Chamber of Commerce for the answers to your accusations. Their PACs fund the campaigns of a majority of Republicans. They want cheap labor.

Oh, no, there is a big difference. The drug cartels pay far more money to our Senators, and none of it is taxable or even declared.

My question for Cruz is, what has he done to help secure the border? He may not like the way Trump does it, but Trump is doing something.

Every time I start to warm back up to Cruz, he reminds me why I supported Trump over him. He's just another nervous Nellie who cuts and runs whenever the going gets tough.

Congratulation. You got fooled by the New York Slimes.

They ginned up a Fake News article. And you bought it.

Trump already won the Mexico tariff battle. Mexico caved. But the Slimes thought they could divide and conquer with knee jerk lies.

And they succeeded.

“...in the normal course of things, tariffs are bad things because they are taxes and interfere with commerce.”

Sooooo...what funded our federal government in the 1800’s into the 1900’s (as we grew and grew), before the unconstitutional taxes on income and wealth?

Three guesses and the second two don’t count.

Want a clue?

Sadly, I can believe that.

And call the RNC and the NRSC (National Republican Senate Committee). They need to know how truly fed up we are.

If Republicans had fought Obama half as hard as they fight Trump, this mess would not be so bad.
