Dodgeball isn't just problematic, it's an unethical tool of 'oppression': researchers
National Post ^ | June 3, 2019 | Joseph Brean

Posted on 06/04/2019 9:29:14 AM PDT by DeplorablePaul

The moral problem is that dodgeball encourages students to aggressively single others out for dominance, and to enjoy that dominance as a victory

We had a rule no headshots. Any headshot accidental or otherwise - you were out.

And now you see what it’s lead to... ;-)

If they would just make it fair, and not allow women an minorities to be hardest hit, there would not be any problem

“Dodgeball is a sport of violence, exclusion, and degradation.”

and...

“If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball.”

and...

“The five D’s: dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge.”

There were a few ballshots I wish I could have substituted a headshot for!

Do Americans play something called British Bull Dog? I hated that game in elementary school.

I'm waiting for the day when the world championships are televised on The Ocho.

I've seen championship "Cornhole" televised on ESPN......sheesh!

“Loved dodgeball. We had a rule no headshots. Any headshot accidental or otherwise - you were out.”

Loved it, too, but we didn’t have rules in high school Summer P.E. I was young and agile with no arm, so would usually be the last one left on my side on a losing team.

We called the head-shooter “Mad Dog” — to his face.

Now that I think back on it, am glad he was Caucasian. :-)

Its a great game, its where a Geek can knock out a Jock. It was great when I was in 4th grade. Never saw it as unfair, no one ever got hurt or complained other than “It never touched me”. We used a maroon colored bouncy rubber ball about the size of a volley ball. Not many cry babies in my generation.

Yes, our scout troop got to play once in a while.

It got the scouts so excited that it was hard to get through the rest of the meeting

Ha, I’ve always felt that way about Olympic curling.

Can’t find word for word but “No more rules now at this point it’s just down and dirty old fashioned street dodgeball.”

—2004 was a long time ago so maybe I missed a word.

It sucked for me, as a very skinny underweight boy. The bigger boys would go after the cute girls, pretend to try to capture them, and then “let them go”. But the only chance I had as a scrawny kid was outrunning them.

Gym kind of sucked in the 70s. My kids now do much more interesting and fun games.

Everyone’s got a dodgeball (we called it bombardment) war story. Mine was in 8th grade, we were playing the 7th graders. Threw a ball at one guy so hard that when he jumped up to try to catch it, it caught him in the chest and threw him into the breaker box for the gym lights, which went out and plunged the gym into darkness. I got a standing ovation for that one.

I do remember some of the more “girly girls” not liking dodgeball. But I grew up in farm country where the majority of girls grew up doing farm chores and could lay a smack down on you as bad as any of the boys. Weak, they were not.

There’s a game being played on Reddit’s The Donald right now. Go to Google.com, type in “Is ______ racist?” and whatever you put in the blank part, it’s going to be racist. Dodgeball for sure is racist.

So far, I have determined that knitting, air, space, English, the Violin, Christianity, poop and internet searches are all racist. I can’t find anything that isn’t.

I was captain of the 6th grade champion team. It was THE game to play. Strategy, tactics, psychological warfare, skill, luck, deceit and a generous helping of athletic prowess made it a game to be respected.

These limp-wrist loser "researchers" are absolute nitwits. So everything that involves differentiating the "able" from the "unable" is "repression"? I guess these losers are uncomfortable with who they are: LOSERS. All losers have problems with meritocracy because it proves who they really are.
