Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) took aim at the National Rifle Association on Sunday during her town hall on Fox News. She set herself up to be this strong proponent of gun control laws and legislation. In fact, she criticized the NRA and made a number of false statements about the pro-gun group. She also seemed to forget that before she ran for the Senate, she wrote a letter to the NRA, praising the group for their work to protect the Second Amendment. She must have missed the memo: the NRA represents the average gun owner, not gun manufacturers. In fact, the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) is the firearms industry trade association. That group represents gun manufacturers.
