Guns / weapons / firearms are inanimate objects typically made of steel and wood and plastic. They don’t have a shelf life like bread and go bad after sitting on a nightstand like a ham sandwich.
Cars do.
Leave one in the elements infrequently using it or taking care of it for 10 years and see what you get.
