Conservative commentator Dan Bongino schooled producer Craig Mazin on the failure of socialism Thursday after the creator and writer of HBOs Chernobyl praised a tweet by horror icon Stephen King that compared the Soviet-era disaster to Donald Trumps presidency.
The feud started early Thursday after Mr. King wrote that its impossible for him to watch Chernobyl without thinking of the current president.
Stephen King @StephenKing: "It's impossible to watch HBO's CHERNOBYL without thinking of Donald Trump; like those in charge of the doomed Russian reactor, he's a man of mediocre intelligence in charge of great power--economic, global--that he does not understand."

Imagine Bing Crosby producing a comedy about a Nazi prisoner-of-war camp. He did and it was very funny.
That just goes to show you how your knowledge of current events flavors your ideas. I say this because I was about 12 when the song came out and I thought it was joking, because "everyone knew" how bad it was in the USSR at that time.
With Jewish actors portraying the Nazis.
I have read ONE Stephen King book...about writing...
It really is a well-done show, very little of the hyper-emotionalism, violin music, etc etc etc... it covers the lives and events in an almost sterile approach. It allows the viewer to process and feel, without being pushed. I love it.
And the main message that I take away from it is that the accident happened by a cluster of causes all piling up in just the wrong way... all made worse by the simple fact that a leadership that was terrified of looking fallible did what they could to make it look like it was the fault of anything but their system, whether it was or wasn't. That's not even the fault of "Socialism", that's the fault of that particular stripe of authoritarian (although almost all authoritarians seem to carry that trait... and almost all Socialism leads to authoritarianism).
(The actual disaster, explained, with the gift of 40 years of hindsight: The accident occurred during a late-night safety test simulating a power outage, during which both emergency safety and power-regulating systems were intentionally disabled. A combination of inherent RBMK reactor design flaws... plus reactor operators arranging the core in a manner contrary to the checklist for the test... resulted in uncontrolled reaction conditions. Superheated water was instantly turned into steam, causing a destructive steam explosion... and the led to a subsequent open-air graphite fire, which spread the radioactive poison far and wide. None of those contributing factors are the result of a political bent. The reactor flaws possibly being known and hidden could be, and thus possibly prevented, could be attributed to the Soviet way, but that's tangential at best.)
I always assumed it was just The Beatles being nice, and drumming up a huge market with some kind words and a fun song. But yes, we all knew it was not saying that Moscow girls and Miami Beach girls were partying and enjoying life and love with the same fervor.
Agree the show is riveting and I like the level of detail about what went on in the reactor and the response on the ground. You just know everyone there will die.
The portrayal of the USSR and the paranoia off the bureaucrats and high level officials is scary. I knew the result but I wasn’t sure at times they would ever do anything right.
How the creator gets a Trump blast out of it is beyond me.
King has it totally backwards, evidence of his progressive TDS.
The show reflects what Democrats and deep staters would be like not admitting reality, worrying most about appearances, not reacting properly, not protecting the people.
That wouldnt be Trump. King is yet another ignorant proggie emoter with a microphone.
Yes, that’s the only book of his I’ve read too. I think I even read it twice. Very insightful actually.
I’m constantly amazed that libs equates fame to that of intelligence. King writes creepy crap, because that’s where he mentally is. Somehow King, Cher, Alyssa Moron-o, And every dumbass high school athlete that has a Nike contract, automatically think they are political wonks. TDS is the best disease out there, because only the truly intelligent are immune to it!
Actually everything he has written since about 1980 is a hot steaming pile of sh!t.
His first few books were “OK”, after 1980 he hasn’t written anything worth wasting your time with.
Criminal Minds was a TV show that lasted for YEARS.
It showed just how SICK a mind can be and showed some unbelievable stories to prove their point.
THAT IS STEPHEN KING. His original books were sick, Carrie, Salem’s Lot, Cujo, etc., were told in such an interesting way that King rose to fame.
His later books were trash, but the loyal fans were too committed to point it out.
The man is a sick piece of trash and the sooner the public recognizes it, the better.
I actually did read The Shining. Must have been around the time it came out in paperback because there was no talk at the time of a movie being made of it. I did like the book, but did not feel compelled to read any more of his books. I really like the movie that was made of The Shining. I understand King hated it because of changes to the story from the novel.
“Imagine Benny Goodman playing a dance tune about Nazi Germany?”
“Begin the Regime”? I know, Cole Porter, Artie Shaw.
The creator of ‘Chernobyl’ Craig Mazin — was Senator Ted Cruz’ freshman roommate at Princeton.
