So, THEY define hate speech?
Yikes.
My M1 disagrees.
It’s not just the students. In a recent Nextdoor.com conversation I read, a gay guy was whining about somebody supposedly hurling insults at him and boyfriend during a traffic stop. Most of the commenters demanded that he call the cops and provide the license plate of that driver.
It was about the saddest and scariest thing I’ve read in a long time.
"Who gets to define 'hate'?"
AND ALMOST 60% DO BELIEVE IT SHOULD BE PROTECTED!!!!
I love the reports that give the negative.
So many people in a negative, pessimistic, unhappy world.
And they are all DEMOCRAPS.
Who cares what future Chinese pets think.
“Censoring speech is fine as long as I get to decide what speech is censored. It’s a disaster if anyone else gets to decide!”
Seriously, this is what they think.
These people are passive-aggressive little chits, too. And vicious.
Just wait till they find out thaT spouting anti-semitic and anti-Christians messages is hate speech too- and in their words ‘shouldn’t be protected’- Watch em stammer hemm and hawww then
The entire subject is a useless endeavor until we define what hate speech is; and determine who it is that defines it.
True hate speech of the demagogic type does need to have some limits - but toady’s idiots think anything spoken aloud that disagrees with the leftist, Democrat party’s ideals is hate speech.
Every prospective employee, shall sit down and watch Blazing Saddles in it’s entirety and discuss their feelings afterwards. Should be easy to weed the weenies out.
The speech some hate is magically presented as hate speech; dissenting intellectual positions become mental conditions; and contrary opinions are delegitimised after all, theres no need to argue with a mad man or woman. This is censorship by way of intellectual pathology. - Ben Shapiro
If they called the dang laws by a non-Orwellian name like 'disagreement-speech' then even the lumpen college kids would do a double take and maybe only 20% of them would be for it.
But one day they will find, disagreeing with someone or something, that they are sued or locked up or fired or fined or shot. And at that moment they will say 'I wasn't hating, I was just disagreeing' and they will have woken up too late.
That said, this is America, and if you're not initiating harmful force against someone, or encouraging people to initiate harmful force, or committing fraud ... then hate, though not recommended, should be as lawful as breathing.
