Trump Has Become the Democrats' Great White Whale

One way of envisioning the Democratic obsessions with Donald Trump is as an addiction. We have seen the initial impeachment efforts; the attempt to get him under the emoluments clause, the Logan Act and the 25th Amendment; the Russian collusion hoax; the Mueller investigation; the demand for his tax returns; and the psychodramas involving Michael Avenatti, Michael Cohen and Stormy Daniels. Relentless progressives have needed a new Get Trump fix about every two months.

More practically, their fixation also substitutes for a collective poverty of ideas. The Democratic Party has no plan to secure the borders other than to be against whatever Trump is for. They would not build a wall, deport illegal entrants, end sanctuary cities, fine employers or do much of anything but allow almost anyone to enter the U.S.

The homeless crisis is reaching epidemic proportions in our cities, almost all of them run by progressive mayors and city councils. None have any workable plan to clean the sidewalks of needles and human excrement. None know what do with the hundreds of thousands who have camped out in public spaces, endangering their own health and everyone around them due to drug addiction and inadequate sanitation and waste removal.

On abortion, the new Democratic position seems to be that the unborn can be aborted at any time the mother chooses, up to and including the moment of birth.

The Green New Deal has been endorsed by most of the current Democratic primary candidates, even though they privately know its utopian fantasies would shut down the U.S. economy and destroy the present prosperity fueled by record energy production, deregulation, and tax reform and reduction.

“...their fixation also substitutes for a collective poverty of ideas.”

“collective poverty” I like the way VDH put that...perfect term.

Why doesn’t President Trump ever tweet about the democrat-led cities and the homelessness and the disgustingness?

Bill Clinton: "now I have got to get back to work for the American people."

Victor David Hanson is just laid out the perfect line for Trump to take in anticipation of impeachment. As Hanson laid out, Trump has a helluva record to run on.

Trump should articulate every one of these points, especially aimed at white suburban women, and tell them how the Democrats will take these advances away from them. Do you want to pay more to fill your car with gas to take the kids to soccer practice? Do you want Iran and Korean missiles pointed at your children? Do you want to see all the young men in your neighborhood addicted to drugs because they have no jobs or do you want to continue to bring jobs home to America?

The opportunities to apply this formula are almost limitless and at the same time, as Hanson also points out, he can force the Democrats into their essential dilemma, undo the good the Trump is been doing or infuriate their base in primary season and beyond.

Hopefully, Attorney General Barr will carry the ball on the impeachment front by the principle that the best defense is a good offense. In any event, Trump needs a more authoritative spokesperson than Rudy Giuliani one with considerable gravitas while Trump himself gets back to work for the American people.

“Trump Has Become the Democrats’ Great White Whale”

Why do I think that Trump won’t mind at all having the democraps think of him as “Moby-Dick”?

The democrats imagined Mueller to be their Captain Ahab seeking Moby Donald but in reality was more of a case of Finding Nemo cartoon.

The MSM-Democrats are going to use Trump to justify unbelievable levels of blatant corruption and betrayal by the next Democrat president.

In normal times your strategy would be the obvious and the best. It is not enough when you have every public facing entity trying to destroy you. MSM, the Education establishment, Entertainment, Socila Media even Google are all trying to bring Trump down. Does it seem like Trump is conducting war? I think Trump is relying too much on the economy etc to prevail. I think a no knock 4 am raid on Brennan and Weissman would be a start.

I fully agree with you for the absolute necessity of balancing the political strategy with aggressive prosecution of those deep staters who violated their oath and the law and I should have incorporated those thoughts in the reply which you addressed.

I did so earlier this morning here
