Look at the article at the top of this thread. Do you think President Trump has a personal bias against him?
Keep in mind that Im one of the few Freepers who has publicly said I would have voted for Moore in 2017 even if every allegation against him was TRUE.
He was a candidate who endured a level of slander that no one could’ve overcome. He had the entire establishment against him, “Republicans” urging the voters to vote for the Democrat (or effectively desert him, which would mean a de fact vote for the Democrat), combined with voter fraud and chicanery. The deck was completely stacked against him. That all has to be taken into consideration.
President Trump (wrongly) endorsed the profoundly flawed Luther Strange, who was openly tied to a corrupt Governor and engaged in quid pro quo for the appointment in 2017. I think he should’ve stayed out of it (and should in this instance as well).
This entire mess was precipitated by then-Gov. Bentley. Had he not been lacking in ethics, we’d have had a Senate appointee (not Strange) who likely would’ve been confirmed by the voters by acclimation. I do not blame Moore for the situation. He saw an opportunity and took it. Ultimately, we’d have been better off had Mo Brooks been the nominee (though he, too, would’ve endured all manner and sort of slander and character assassination — probably stuff they would’ve rolled out against Moore for all we know).
