And here's the story on how the N.S.A. lost control of EternalBlue in the first place. Spoiler: Nobody's quite sure what happened.

CIA and/or FBI did this, to discredit the NSA.
Timing is a little *too* convenient.

FIre Dan Coats.

Jeez, one would think some people would lose their jobs over this.

Wishful thinking, I know.

Just turn it all off and let’s go back to the Dark Ages. I could probably get the house painted then.

I am betting obama and the clintons are involved. After all they sold our uranium to our enemies.

Time to go back to paper. The world is not moral and just enough to use high tech. Our excursion into high tech for a better brighter future is being turned into a darkness that will be used to enslave the world. Humans simply destroy anything good.

I seriously doubt that Im the only one that knows that most likely Snowden sold it. I fell for the early hype too but hes no hero. If they don’t mean how as to the technique well Im pretty sure it wasn’t craigslist.

Backup backup backup and test restore.

If you dont have three backups, have verified that you can properly restore... you are doing it wrong!

No matter how secure software is, someone will leak the password or hack it.

My investigation would start with Obamas pick to lead the agency and then everyone hired by him.

You'll find the traitors within a week.

I saw this article earlier today and my first thought was about how “17 intelligence agencies” knew within days, without even examining the servers, that the DNC was hacked by Russians and that we needed a thorough counter-intelligence investigation of the GOP candidate... but here we have an entire city - cities, hopsitals, banks and others - all falling victim and where are the US intel agencies now?

Too busy covering their tracks, I could wryly say, over their seditious attempt to entrap and unseat the POTUS. But sarcasm is defeatist. This is a serious matter and I fear that the entire intelligence apparatus has been compromised in many ways: It seems likely that 1) the code was leaked from inside the agencies, 2) they don’t know who or haven’t public prosecuted the leakers, 3) they showed incredible hubris in believing in their omnipotence 4) they have for the most part been shown to be tools for political partisanship, 5) they are in disarray internally for fear of being exposed for their seditious schemes... and many more possibilities.

The bottom line is that this is disgraceful. Remember when Sony was hacked allegedly by NK, it took ages for the Federal Government to respond. There were other hacks. Now this. They are slow to respond to real threats while they invent false flags against the elected POTUS or jump to give unfounded support to political narratives. Perhaps I am wrong to lump the NSA in for I know that Adm. Mike Rogers tried to stop the seditious campaign against Trump. But they are starting to appear to be more of a liability than an asset. I hope that is not true, and I’m sure there is a lot we don’t see or know about... but of the information that has come to light they appear to be petty and partisan and derelict.

Then again, perhaps this is part of an attempt to smear the NSA because of what Adm. Rogers did - which would be the worst option of all next to straight treason if the intel agencies were warring with each other.

I thought this vulnerability was patched?

Per wiki:

On Tuesday, March 14, 2017, Microsoft issued security bulletin MS17-010, which detailed the flaw and announced that patches had been released for all Windows versions that were currently supported at that time, these being Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8.1, Windows 10, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2012, and Windows Server 2016.

Many Windows users had not installed the patches when, two months later on May 12, 2017, the WannaCry ransomware attack used the EternalBlue vulnerability to spread itself. The next day, Microsoft released emergency security patches for the unsupported Windows XP, Windows 8, and Windows Server 2003.
