Senate Judiciary Chairman Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) explained that those “worried” about the upcoming declassification of intelligence related to the Russia investigation are really just concerned about “being exposed” for acting outside the law.
Speaking with “Fox News Sunday,” Graham gave host Chris Wallace his thoughts regarding Trump’s order to declassify documents related to the investigation into Russian election interference, saying that he believes Attorney General William Barr “can be trusted” with the information.
He also stated that he thinks those who are “worried” about the declassification simply do not want to be “exposed for taking the law into their own hands.”
“I think [Barr] can be trusted, and I’m going to look at this. Nobody doubted my trust or my ability to be fair when I supported [Special Counsel Robert] Mueller. The people who are worried about this are worried about being exposed for taking the law into their own hands.”
“It doesn’t surprise me that the people we are looking at, they don’t want transparency,” continued Graham. “We’re not trying to compromise national security here.”

“We’re trying to create a system to ensure this never happens again by shedding light on the FISA warrant process, the counterintelligence investigation,” he added.
The Senate Judiciary Committee chairman continued on to say that “every American” had the right to know if the intelligence community back then “had a lawful reason to surveil President Trump’s campaign” and whether or not they “lied to the FISA court” to obtain a warrant.
Graham’s comments came after Trump ordered the intelligence community on Thursday to work with Barr’s investigation into the origins of the probe into the president’s 2016 presidential campaign.

BTW, this is why it pays to play the moderate sometimes. It gains you political capital that can be expended in critical times like this. Graham has leverage right now because he has played that game.

Right, he has a shield. He payed a price for it — pissing off FR types like us — but now he’s going to use it on our behalf. It bought him cover to put the sword into the deep state.
This whole thing reminds me of how the Kavanaugh confirmation went down. Oh it was taking too long. Oh Grassley was weak and ineffective. Oh this and oh that. And then our guys got him confirmed. That was Grassley and McConnell working out a strategy that wasn’t immediately gratifying but that payed off in the end. I feel like this is a similar thing. Yeah, it’s happening slowly but our guys are going to nail the Democrats in due time.
