Visiting U.S. President Donald Trump and his wife, Melania, watched the last day of the Summer Grand Sumo Tournament at Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo on May 26 alongside Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and his wife, Akie.

Trump climbed into the dohyo to present the massive "U.S. President's Cup" to the tournament winner, Asanoyama, a No. 8 maegashira, in the awards ceremony after the conclusion of the 15-day tournament.

According to the White House, the U.S. President's Cup is a custom-made silver trophy, which is about 137 centimeters in height and weighs 27 to 32 kilograms. It is even larger than the Emperor’s Cup, the top prize given to the tournament winner, which is 107 cm high and weighs 29 kg.

The U.S. President's Cup is similar to the Emperor’s Cup in shape. However, a figure of a bald eagle, the national bird of the United States, adorns the top of the trophy.

I have family in japan. President Trump has made a huge impact there. Japan likes president Trump and they have fallen in love with Melania. What a great job our president is doing! Kudos to the 1st lady for her magic.

The trade deal with Japan promises to bode well for U.S. agricultral products.

The Presidential cup for Sumo is huge: 54 inches tall by reports. Beautiful award to be presented annually.

Had a call from my daughter (and grandsons) just as the Trump helicopter was about to land. She lives in the Tokyo neighborhood of the helopad.

I was there just after his election in November 2016 and the mood was "woe is us" because too many news consumers their get fed by the American enemedia.

I was also there in March when the mood was considerably more upbeat because the policies of DJT have lifted the economy of Japan's best customer (the USA) along with ours.
