A Harrisburg resident has been charged as the man who wielded a machete on Interstate 83 before a state police trooper shot him Friday morning.
Devi C. Adhikari, 44, was charged with attempted criminal homicide, attempted aggravated assault, terroristic threats, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and a traffic citation of following too closely, according to court dockets.
Earlier on Friday, police said a man, now identified as Adhikari, was aggressively following a trooper on Friday morning, then drove around the troopers cruiser on Interstate 83 in Lower Paxton Township, Dauphin County.
The trooper initiated a traffic stop, but the man got out of his car holding a machete, police said. When the man ignored the troopers orders to drop the weapon and went after police, the trooper retreated and fired his weapon.
The man was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries from the shooting, police said. Police have not provided an update on the mans condition, and court records show he has not been arraigned yet.
One witness to the shooting said before the shooting, he saw a man on the side of the road, holding something. Moments later, the man fell to the ground after loud pops.
The troopers was not injured in the incident, police said.
The Dauphin County District Attorney Fran Chardo will make a determination as to whether the shooting was justified.
State police have not offered any motive and ask that anyone with information or who may have witnessed the shooting contact investigators at (717) 671-7500.
Troopers still gotta fill that ticket quota.
Hindu Nuffin.
Why in the he11 is Devi C. Adhikari in this country?!
“The Dauphin County District Attorney Fran Chardo will make a determination as to whether the shooting was justified.”
While yer at it Fran, make a degermination whether Officer Friendly needs some more range time.
Too much spicy curry.
Strange, what motivates people.
LOL
That was the most unintentionally funny things I’ve seen in a while.
“He murdered 7 people when he stepped out of his car by shooting them at close range and then shooting again any he thought were still alive.
And he had a broken tail light”
:)
Apparently even in old Heavy Metal. d;^)
.
Prosecutor : Are you Captain Lincoln F. Sternn?
Stern : [haughtily] I am.
Prosecutor : Lincoln Sternn, you stand here accused of 12 counts of murder in the first degree, 14 counts of armed theft of Federation property, 22 counts of piracy in high space, 18 counts of fraud, 37 counts of rape...
[pauses to check the criminal record]
Prosecutor : ...and one moving violation. How do you plead?
Stern : [haughtily] Not guilty.
I like it. Cherry on top...
Probably running a Dunkin Donuts.
Great flick.
Attempted suicide by cop.
The citation documents and validates the reason for the traffic stop in the first place.
25 years law enforcement here. I know. Just poking fun. The establishing charges in cases like this strike me as funny. Perhaps I should put on a warning note for the ironically challenged.
