Britons should be working nine-hour weeks to help solve climate change and reduce green house gas emissions, according to a new study.
Autonomy, an environmental think tank, published research which suggests that reducing the amount of hours Britons work would keep the country within the 'planetary boundary' of 2C of global warming at current carbon intensity levels.
They claim it is the only way for the UK to meet the greenhouse gas emission targets set by the UN

I would love to see the USA go to 4 10-hour days. (or even 4 9-hour)
Imagine what you could do with a 3-day weekend every week?
And some people would WANT TO work those other 3 days, so people needing services could still get them on weekends.

Lots of American factories run on 4 tens. It is good for some companies but apparently not for others.
Some run on 4 twelves. I don’t know how they allocate the hours but those who work those hours seem to like it.
The article says that global warming nuts are recommending a 9-hours of work a WEEK, not day.
One of my boys works 9-hour days, and gets a 3 day weekend every second week (so it’s 81 hours over 2-weeks, close enough to a 40-hour average workweek). It’s a popular program.
I worked shift work 8 10 hour work week with 6 day weekends. It was quite brutal and took 2-4 days to get back to normal for weekends.
This isn’t a nine hour day. It is a nine hour WEEK!
I like this idea about as much as I like the $200/hr minimum wage.
