A few weeks ago, the Chicago Cubs banned a fan for playing the Circle Game on live TV. Supposedly, making a circle with your thumb and forefinger, commonly known as the "OK sign," is now an indicator of white supremacy. Except, of course, it's no such thing. The Cubs fell for a dumb hoax perpetrated by some Internet pranksters who wanted to see if they could trick people into believing that the most innocuous gesture in the world is actually bad. It worked.
Another pack of rubes in Chicago just fell for the same hoax, and it's going to cost them a pretty penny. Steve Schering, Chicago Tribune:

Actually, it is a “dirty” sign in some South American countries, similar to a middle finger sign, here.

Kinda ironic, since in some South American countries they put used TP in a garbage can in the bathroom instead of flushing it.

THIS came in the mail yesterday .... a major medical provider, offering a new service actually wrote in bold letters;
ATTENTION: if you speak English, language assistance services, free of charge, are available to you.
I called the 800 number to see if I could get this back to the PR department and I was assured this call would be recorded and, when the lady came on the phone, she re-iterated that this was being recorded.
I proceeded to quote the adv. and tried to explain what I considered circular reasoning and I heard her in the back ground .... tapping .....
I asked if she was typing out this call and she said she had to put it in a report.
So much for the recorded line.

News to me. I’ve never heard that ever. I serve in my churchs’ prison ministry and never even heard it there either.

See, it wasn’t a muslim GANG symbol, it was their allahu ackbar instead, so all was good!
Mexico and Central American countries as well - The sewer treatment systems and pipes can’t handle the toilet paper because they have too little capacity.
Also, the water systems can’t provide enough pressure (or volume either!) to flush enough water fast enough to get the waste toilet paper down through the sewer pipes.

Not really...it is a sign saying that the person that the sign is directed to is Gay. I unknowing used to flash it as the "good job" sign and wondered why the guys were cracking up. It was 'splained to me what it meant.
I worked in SA almost 10-years and lived as a resident for over 5 years and worked in the mining industry.
Teens are joking around with this symbol now because people think it’s a “white supremacist” symbol.
I see it the same as pretend “gang signs.” Photos of people joking around with “gang signs” don’t bother me, but many here are offended by them. Isn’t this the same thing?
Anyway, we all see what happens with yearbook photos years later. Now this (public?) school has spent $53,000 (in taxes?) trying to save the students from embarrassment later. The photos should’ve stayed in the book.
Yes, well you were there longer than me, so you probably know but it was explained that way to me. They told me they would laugh when watching American movies and someone in the movie gave the “OK” sign.
