Apparently having failed to learn the lesson of her party being trounced in the polls by Nigel Farages Brexit Party, British Prime Minister Theresa May has further distanced herself from the British public by setting the process in motion for a second referendum.
Making her pitch to Parliament Tuesday afternoon to pass her thrice-rejected Withdrawal Agreement when it is put before the house for a fourth time next month, embattled British Prime Minister offered a second referendum as a bribe to buy votes from her political colleagues.
....
Speaking in Westminster, the Prime Minister said:
"I have also listened carefully for those who have argued for a second referendum. I have made my own view on this clear many times. I do not believe this is a route we should take because I think we should be implementing the result of the first referendum, not asking the British people to vote in a second one.
But I recognise the genuine and sincere strength of feeling across the House on this important issue. The government will, therefore, include in the withdrawal agreement bill at introduction a requirement to vote on whether to hold a second referendum, and this must take place before the withdrawal agreement can be ratified. And if the House of Commons were to vote for a referendum, it would be requiring the government to make provisions for such a referendum including legislation if it wanted to ratify a withdrawal agreement.
So to those MPs who want a second referendum to confirm the deal, you need a deal and therefore a withdrawal agreement bill to make it happen. So let it have its second reading, and then make your case to Parliament."

A second referendum will be rigged. To REMAIN. Count on it.
So if they have a second referendum, and it goes to remain, that makes it a tie.....so do they then go for best out of three?.....that should keep it tied up for about 12-15 years.Civil war is long overdue there.
I no longer find much to admire about Britain or the Commonwealth. She really was "great" up to the Crystal Palace exhibition, though.
Are the common British this idiotic?
Yep.
Same goes for court cases, laws, etc.
The Left always fights and fights, then once it wins, “No more fighting allowed. History has spoken!”
You’re confused; Biden relied on Neil Kinnock for advice (and speeches), not Maggie.
Had to look that one up.

Oh, no.
Au contraire, mon frère.
Joe Biden talks to Margaret Thatcher.
Just the other day, in fact. According to Joe Biden.
In fact, Joe Biden says Margaret Thatcher called HIM(!).

To complain about President Trump, of course.
Keep voting until you win, then stop voting.
It’s the Soros way.
Wow, she is the absolute frickin’ worst. This is how I thought the McCain presidency would have gone for us. A political narcissist with no respect for the voters or their party base who will just do whatever the hell they want to do, damn the consequences. The only thing worse about McCain is he would have started a war or two along the way.
#Brexit
As someone who despised May when she was Home minister, I see what she is doing as PM as nothing more than a continuation. it’s her character
Stupid - possibly. Actually highly, highly probable.
Malicious, stubborn and egotistical - yes, yes and yes.
May’s problem is that she has zero creativity and she is exactly like Maduro in the sense that she was promoted way beyond her capabilities and now she has a paranoia complex and just wants to survive each day.
She should resign. The problem is who will replace her? And will that be any improvement?
let’s see - within the Tory party there are Angela Leadstrom, BoJo, Gove and Rees-Mogg. Rees-mogg is not supported by anything like a majority. BoJo and Gove will stab each other in the back. Leadstrom has a chance to win
But the seat numbers are against them. They can either
1. Declare no-deal and crash out - then they’ll lose the 48% of the vote permanently and many of the 52%. The Tory party will be unelectable for decades
2. Cancel Brexit - then they lose most of the 48% and they’ve lost most of the 52% already. Tory party disintegrates
3. Continue delaying - again they lose
It’s a lose-lose-lose option for the Tories.
Another option is to declare a General Election. Most likely Corbyn will win and implement a version of May’s plan.
the Tories are dead in the water no matter what.
Oh and Farage is no white knight - he’ll never want to take up a job that has any real responsibility
A second referendum is too late. Pointless.
However, the terms of the first referendum were so vague that even if a second referendum does not include a no-deal option, it is no “change” - The first referendum said “do you wanna leave?” and nothing more
And WWI was a victory of liberals (England, the USA, France) over conservatives (Hapsburgs etc.)
Sigh - what did the “voters” say in the non-binding, advisory referendum?
They said “52 out of 100 of us vote to leave the club” - but then “out of the 52, some of us want to walk out and set up our own club; others want to have monthly membership of the club; others want a come-when-you-want membership of the club”
They didn’t say anything specific
There was a vote of no-confidence called for in December. The “get er out” side lost, so as per the rules they need to wait until December 2019 to try again”
err.. what exactly have “the people” spoken in the non-binding, advisory referendum? That out of the folks who voted, 52% of the voters (37% of the electorate as a whole) that they wanted some kind of “leave the EU” - not elaborating what. May’s deal is bad but it is technically a “leave the EU”. The No-deal is also another kind, but it was never mentioned before the referendum and it was not even considered by BoJo, Gove or Farage who thought they’d dictate terms for a deal to the other members.
Everything is too late now for anything except a no-deal brexit
It won’t be rigged. But the results would be close again. Ideally it should be multiple choice questions
1. no deal
2. Norway-style
3. Turkey-style
4. no brexit
But there will be no 50%+ majority for any of these options
My Anglophilia failed after living in the UK.
This is still a very beautiful country with a lot of history, but the people in general have p&55ed it away. This is no longer the England of Wodehouse or Biggles etc.
They were great from about 1750 to about 1950. 200 years is not a bad run.
But all imperial states decline and crash. Look at Babylon, Persepolis, Athens, Rome, etc. It is inevitable
They won’t finish counting until Sunday. Another illustration of just how inefficient and useless the EU really is.
