Sens. Mitch McConnell and Tim Kaine plan to introduce a bill Monday that would raise the federal minimum age to buy tobacco to 21 in hopes of curbing what regulators are calling an epidemic of teen vaping.

Its good to see Mitch doing the really important work of the Senate.....
If Congress passes a bill nobody cares about, Do they really deserve to be paid?
And yet they want 16 year-olds to vote.
Congress long ago abandoned most of their responsibilities.
McConnell needs to be Cantorized in the 2020 primary along with a bunch of other Bush League Republicans like Flimsey Grahamnesty.
They are why we have an illegal alien inundation, constantly dangling amnesty as bait.
Blocking every effort to stop it.
Does this bill include raising the age for abortion?
Boy, that’s gonna stop 16 year-olds from smoking . . . /sarc
Talk about a colossal waste of effort. . . worthless
Yeah, this is the most important thing we have to deal with. Sheesh!
So if you are not responsible enough to make the decision to smoke at 18, then the following items from Black’s Law Dictionary will have to be in the bill also as many of these carry far greater responsibilities:
1. Vote.
2. Join the military.
3. Donate blood and become an organ donor.
4. Work full time.
5. Play the lottery.
6. Obtain driving licensing.
7. Purchase and use tobacco products (in some states).
8. Drive late at night.
9. Consent to having sex with someone that is 21 or older.
10. Establish a checking and savings account and apply for loans.
11. Apply for credit cards and establish your creditworthiness by paying your bills on time.
12. Get piercings or tattoos without parents permission.
13. Change your birth name.
14. File a lawsuit.
15. Get married.
16. Adopt.
17. Create your Will.
18. Buy spray paint, fireworks, and adult videos.
19. Purchase a house and a vehicle.
20. Move out of your parents home.
I would say this list from Black’s is very interesting in that if the feds think you are not capable of deciding your personal safety and maybe that of a few that are caught in the smoke, something that simple, how could they possibly let you do the things I listed? They’re going to be busy if the over 21 passes. first explaining themselves, then trying to enforce it.
In the old days, you could smoke them but not buy them. How’s that going to work. And are the cops going to card everyone with a smoke on the street? I see a lot of overtime here. This is a bite off more than they can chew routine. And are they going to include chew or snuff? See my previous sentence.

Everything changes when somebody else pays your medical bills. That's why they wanted Obamacare ... to control people ...
Our border has collapsed, we’ve had a near coup, there are trillions of tax dollars sloshing around DC and is a massive corrupting force, and these clowns are worried about the smoking age? Politicians are scum.
Because Congress won't rest until everything is a federal offenses, and there are no more state offenses.
Because they can.
Because the constitution doesn't enumerate this in any legislative power, so by golly, they have to prove their worth by adding more unconstitutional edict - and the [federal] courts will encourage them to reach even further.
As I understand it, the tobacco grown in KY, NC, etc., is considered high-grade and relatively expensive. The nicotine used for “vaping” products is apparently derived not from tobacco grown in KY but rather from cheap, low-quality tobacco grown in China and various 3rd world countries.
I’m not a tobacco user, and I don’t have a dog in this fight. But it seems to me that Mitch’s war on vaping is less about public health and more about appeasing the tobacco growers in his state who are being hurt by the vaping craze. At the same time, one would think that a federal age 21 rule on all tobacco products would negatively impact revenue not just vaping but also traditional cigars, cigarettes, chew, etc. But maybe that’s less of a concern for the tobacco farmers than the short term goal of putting the brakes on the vaping thing,
Totally ridiculous.
Voting age should be 21 too. Too irresponsible to smoke or drink means too irresponsible to vote.
Mitch McConnell and Tim Kaine are nuts....they are replacing the Tobacco industry IN SPADES! Vaping is a guise...and another leg up to the smoking industry.....
It’s Feces like this which is why otherwise Conservative people conclude there’s no difference between the parties and stay home come election day.
Does this apply to marijuana as well?
