Hundreds of migrant families will be flown to California in as many as three flights a week as U.S. Border Patrol agents continue to struggle with the growing number of illegals crossing into the U.S., officials said.

Flights carrying 120 to 135 people were set to begin flying Friday to San Diego from the Rio Grande Valley in Texas and would continue to do so indefinitely, Border Patrol's interim San Diego sector chief Douglas Harrison said.

Harrison called it a “contingency operation” that would see at least three flights a week making the trip. Each flight would cost the government around $6,000, officials said.

They got what the wished for now they have to pay the price.

Agree. Wanting something is one thing. Paying for it and its long term consequences is something altogether different.

I think the whole idea is a bad one

Amen. I know it is fashionable to bash CA, NJ, NY, MA, IL, HI, and other deep blue states AND the entire citizenry inside. I also know many Deplorables reside in those deep blue areas and yet deep red staters deliver "serves you right" type of "encouragement". Thanks.

As I've written previously, many of us Deplorables behind enemy lines spend lots of bandwidth on FR and elsewhere, explaining that there are a variety of reasons why we're not in Texas or some other deep red state. Maybe it is family, maybe it is a job, maybe it is some situation not within our control. It doesn't mean we are purple RINOs or that we're gun grabbers or abortion lovers...OR that it is right to ship illegals to our neighborhood. Instead of being smarmy MSNBC-types, why not argue for DEPORTATION?

Indeed, I'd venture to say that BECAUSE we're surrounded by statists of every stripe - left and right - we possibly have a better appreciation for liberty and why it is important to fight for it when you've got it. Further, at the risk of sounding pompous, there are actually some pretty cool things in these areas: Manhattan and Boston are pretty awesome places, the diners in NJ are top-notch (not to mention the homeschooling laws) and a drive I once took in San Luis Obispo along the coastline was one of the most beautiful drives I ever had.

I heard of people in the 1930s and 1940s in Nazi-occupied territories fighting the enemy, getting captured, and then upon escaping not running away but going BACK to their home and fighting. To be sure, we're not at that point in the US and I'm not putting us on the same level as those heroes...but I'd like to think that a few Deplorables in occupied territories probably have more impact on the margins than people think. Will our states go Red in 2020? Maybe not. But then nobody thought Trump could turn PA Red. Ya gotta believe.

Until then, if people could argue for deportation vs redistribution of illegals...

“How about keeping them out of the country to begin with? That’s what Trump promised when he was running for president.”

Democrat judges won’t let him.

This is like the loving parent who catches their young child with a cigarette:

Then makes them smoke a whole carton.

Or maybe like Malaysia, which when catching drug-dealers FORCES them —alone— to consume ALL of the drugs they were caught with.

School buses with no air conditioning. School is out in three days where we live.

As a taxpayer I say use AMTRACK. Or Greyhound. Not planes.

“No President is perfect”

That’s exactly what I’m pointing out. Trumps failure to prioritize the border wall is a big problem - it shows his presidency is far from perfect and needs to be improved.

If he can bomb Syria, and threaten to bomb Iran and invade Venezuela, then he can build a wall to protect our own country from invaders, including terrorists.

As long as he fails to do so - especially while his aides Bolton and Pompeo threaten military action in far-away countries but no wall on our own border - I am going to criticize Trump.

I am not sure what your point is, but have you seen the recent figures? I live on the border, it is a train wreck.

When you look at the recent chart in the second link- remember what the US Supreme Court did in December...look at January through now. As soon as word got out...flood.

“This is like the loving parent who catches their young child with a cigarette:”

Unfortunately, it’s like the parent who said , I’m not allowing my kids to bring lowlifes into this house - and then, when the kids ignore him, shrugs and offers them the lowlifes the spare bedroom

Why not fly them back to where they came from?

Logic would suggest... but I think logic was on the first flight out of here.

Glad to see I wasn’t the only one baffled by that series of posts. Apprehensions are NOT deportations. It’s still catch and release. It’s still anchor babies.

I’m in Texas and can also confirm it’s a train wreck. But leave it to people FAR from the border to tell us what’s going on. lol.

The dims were using this for their talking points when they were claiming Trump was wrong about the border being a problem...using it to claim no crisis, no emergency, no need for a wall. Using that to claim all is sunshine and roses on the border.

The problem is the time frame does not show what is happening NOW. Now people are flooding across the border. I live here, it is really happening. It is a crisis and an emergency. President Trump is working hard daily to solve the issues and being fought every step of the way by people who support open borders...dims and RINOs.

President Trump had policy in place to keep this from happening but the courts stepped in and stopped him. The worst was the US Supreme Court in December ruled anyone can claim asylum anywhere, any time- even if they enter ILLEGALLY.

“Democrat judges won’t let him”

Sorry, but he never tried to build the wall under his powers as commander in chief and our war on terror

He has been too busy threatening to intervene in Venezuela and Iran - and actually bombing Syria - to act like a commander in chief on our own border. The courts have never told him not to build the wall as a means of protecting us against terrorism - because he has never invoked his presidential powers to do so. To the contrary he did absolutely nothing to build the wall for two years, at Paul Ryan’s request. Now, with no wall, we’ve got massive streams of “migrants “. coming in. How many could be terrorists? Don’t ask Trumps top aides Bolton or Pompeo - they’re too busy being concerned about borders and politics in countries half a world away

To each his own. Instead of turning my guns on my own flesh and blood, I'd teach my child right vs wrong by coupling salient punishment with a vigorous turning of my guns on the vermin who got my kid to smoke Marlboro red box or be a mule.

Trump should deport these illegals, period.

Did you think that would mean President Trump would openly defy the US Supreme Court?

“The Court issued only a simple order, without explanation for any of the votes, that kept intact a California’s federal judge’s temporary but nationwide ban on enforcing the asylum limitations. The issue could return to the Justices after lower courts rule more definitively on the challenge being pursued to the new restrictions by four organizations that handle legal claims for those seeking asylum.

Under the Administration policy, the government declared that it would not allow any foreign national to seek asylum if that individual had entered the U.S. illegally and crossed the U.S.-Mexico border at any point other than an official reception point – called a “port of entry.”

The nationwide order against enforcement of that policy was based on a temporary filing that the challengers probably will be able to prove, when the issue is fully tested in court, that the policy violates the federal law governing foreign nationals’ access to asylum – the kind of relief that enables a person fleeing from persecution and torture in their home country to gain a chance to live in the U.S. as a refugee.” excerpt
