On Tuesday afternoon, the AFL-CIOs Twitter account posted a video of Dan Whelan, a 36-year-old roofer from Dearborn, Mich., stating that the concept of a middle class was a lie and calling for solidarity among workers. The unions tweet, featuring the caption We all need to seize the means of production was derided on the right and applauded on the left, and was viewed nearly 400,000 times.
Where did the video, with its Marxist-Leninist tagline, come from? Its part of a fundraising campaign from Means TV, a Detroit-based film company thats attempting the ambitious project of launching its own anticapitalist streaming service. “We’re going to need a lot more corruption.”
“Capitalists will sell us the rope with which we will hang them.”

Competition has a major influence on capitalism. I think it’s great that CNN, ABC, NBC, Time Warner, and CBS will have someone to finally give them a reason to improve their efforts to keep their audience and sell their sponsors wares. And watering down the audience won’t help anyone since they are all saying the same things after the call comes in the mornings. Good for their dark souls. Times will be lean.
