Britain's Guardian newspaper is officially changing its language concerning climate change, opting to call it instead climate emergency, crisis or breakdown.
Editor-in-chief Katharine Viner advised the staff in an email Friday that the phrase climate change should be avoided because it sounds rather passive and gentle and doesnt capture the real threat to humanity.
We want to ensure that we are being scientifically precise and rooted in facts, while also communicating clearly with readers on this very important issue, Viner wrote.
The new guidelines also state that a person skeptical about climate change should no longer be described as a climate skeptic.
Instead, Viner writes, phrases such as climate science denier or climate denier should be applied.
Increasingly, climate scientists and organizations from the UN to the Met Office are changing their terminology, and using stronger language to describe the situation were in, she added in the email.

OK!! Everybody pay attention!
Lesson for today:
1. The sun is 1,300,000 times as big as the earth.
2. The sun is a giant nuclear furnace that controls the climates of all its planets.
3. The earth is one of the suns planets.
4. The earth is a speck in comparison to the size of the sun.
5. Inhabitants of the earth are less than specks.
Study Question: How do less-than-specks in congress plan to control the sun?
And we can counter by referring to it as “climate farce”, “climate hoax”, or “climate lie.”
Also acceptable would be “hooey”, “bullroar”, or “oombalah.”
Words are powerful. Thats why I use the term climate hysteria.
Gee, that’s about it on the scare scale, right?
I mean, where do you go after crisis, etc.?
“Imminent planetwide death, say your prayers!”?
Science commentator Bill Nye had some choice words about the need for urgent action to combat global warming.
On "Last Week Tonight With John Oliver" on Sunday, after the host discussed the Green New Deal, Nye demonstrated an experiment that was different from his usual more staid fare.
Appearing in a lab coat and donning safety glasses, Nye opined "when something costs more, people buy less of it," in reference to a possible carbon tax that's been floated by politicians as a way to mitigate climate change. ..."
By the end of this century, if emissions keep rising, the average temperature on Earth could go up another four to eight degrees.
What Im saying is the planets on f------ fire, Nye said while setting a globe on fire with a blowtorch that had been hidden under his desk.

"In fact, climate change is directly related to the growth of terrorism," said Sanders.
"And if we do not get our act together and listen to what the scientists say, you're going to see counties all over the world...they're going to be struggling over limited amounts of water, limited amounts of land to grow their crops, and you're going to see all kinds of international conflict."
Sanders said at the second Democratic debate in Iowa that climate change poses the biggest threat to America's national security and to security of the world. ..."

Bin Laden blasts US for climate change
CAIRO Al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden has called for the world to boycott American goods and the U.S. dollar, blaming the United States and other industrialized countries for global warming, according to a new audiotape released Friday.
In the tape, broadcast in part on Al-Jazeera television, bin Laden warned of the dangers of climate change and says that the way to stop it is to bring the wheels of the American economy to a halt.
The environment is suffering damage that could be irreversible global warming, the greenhouse effect, the melting of the polar ice caps, the rising sea level, hurricanes with terrible social occurrences that will shake life on this planet.
I believe this idea has a strong connection with reality. I dont think we have much time.
Fidel Castro said in one of his speeches I read not so long ago, tomorrow could be too late, lets do now what we need to do.
I believe it is time that we take up with courage and clarity a political, social, collective and ideological offensive across the world a real offensive that permits us to move progressively, over the next years, the next decades, leaving behind the perverse, destructive, destroyer, capitalist model and go forward in constructing the socialist model to avoid barbarism and beyond that the annihilation of life on this planet.

November 22, 1970 -- During a fund-raising tour for GI deserters, Vietnam Veterans Against the War and the Black Panthers, Jane Fonda is quoted in the Detroit Free Press as telling a University of Michigan audience:
"I would think that if you understood what communism was, you would hope, you would pray on your knees that we would someday become communist," and "The peace proposal of the Viet Cong is the only honorable, just, possible way to achieve peace in Vietnam."
