Out of all the criticisms of Donald Trump, the one I've never understood is that he's somehow anti-gay. The Trump/Pence ticket was supposed to have put up conversion-therapy camps all across America by now, right? Yet somehow it hasn't happened. With all the legitimate reasons for a person to oppose Trump, they still keep making stuff up.
Pete Buttigieg has been capitalizing on this, depicting himself as some sort of victim. He wants you to think Trump is oppressing him. He just can't seem to get Trump to play along.
Check out this clip from an interview Trump just gave to Steve Hilton, which will air on Fox News this Sunday night. Hilton asks what Trump thinks of Buttigieg's marriage:

Now, that's not to say Trump is a big fan of Buttigieg. The other day he referred to Mayor Pete as "Alfred E. Neuman," which is kind of funny. And Buttigieg said he had to Google "Alfred E. Neuman" because he's not old like Trump, which is also kind of funny. But Trump is teasing him for looking like a dork, not for being gay. Trump insults everybody who's a threat to him. It's nothing new, and there's no reason to expect Buttigieg to be exempt.
Besides, isn't Alfred E. Neuman a sort of trickster god, always humiliating people who are too full of themselves? I wouldn't want to mess with Neuman. Take the compliment, Pete.
I could go to jail for saying this to a homosexual. You are not gay. You are stressed out of your mind. Your thoughts and feelings are not your own. Your mind is being hacked by a malevolent metaphysical force that’s trying to convince you to further humiliate yourself and self-destruct. Your stress from being raped by your uncle or psychologically abused by your mother who resented your masculinity is increasing your vulnerability to these psychic attacks. (I’m using non dogmatic terms here instead of “temptation” because religious words create blocks). Don’t doubt yourself. Don’t doubt your senses. Be calm and observant. Become aware of the stress in excitement and emotion. You’ll see something has convinced you to declare war with yourself. You have to murder a part of your brain to touch things you have no business touching. Who are you punishing? Nobody is a lesbian. Nobody is gay. It’s a dysfunctional identity crisis lie.
Discourage sexual psychosis. Gays suffer from sexual psychosis, a trauma or stress induced mental/emotional disconnect from reality. Recognize that they are suffering. We don’t let suffering people stay sick.
It’s not love, it is unnatural lust. And you obviously have no problem enabling and encouraging sin and perversion.

You may offend a homosexual by saying your heartfelt, honest comments that are being made in his best interest but you won’t go to jail. The homosexual may be offended but down deep he is miserable and would be grateful that you actually treated him like a man. Years ago his physician, clergyman or concerned family member would say just about the same thing. Today few people would have the courage to be “politically incorrect”. In fact if you work for the government or teach at a college, your comments very well could adversely affect your career. Such is modern American culture. Yet the fact is you are right. Truth ultimately will win out. Sadly it will not help the men and young boys who have suffered during the sad epoch of our times. There is hope for them as long as people like you stay true to their values and beliefs
