Mrs. Susan Thornton, the former acting assistant secretary of state in the Trump administration, tells her Beijing audience to stop negotiating until President Trump is removed from office in 2020.
(BEIJING) […] “I want to be optimistic,” said Thornton, whose 27-year career in Washington ended in July. “I tell all our foreign counterparts they should keep steady, keep their heads down and wait. [They should] try to not let anything change dramatically.”
“If this skeptical attitude towards talking diplomacy continues in this administration, you might have to wait till another administration,” Thornton said at an event held by National Committee of US-China relations and Shanghai’s American Chamber. (read more)

My major problem with Trump is that he has allowed his Administration to be staffed with people whose interests are not his. Early on, he could have sourced thousands from the Federalist Society, conservative colleges, people who worked on his campaign as volunteers and other conservative think tanks but instead we end up with Establishment retreads doing their best to do him in and destroy his policies.
Now that is collusion

Sounds like borderline Logan Act. I like what one person posted: put her on the no fly list.
With her years’ experience and “retirement”, she undoubtedly was a mid-level employee someone elevated to a senior level in her last years on the job. He probably inherited her and being the kind of guy he was let her finish out her retirement.
Revoke her passport and let her stay in China.
The State Department needs to be disbanded and rebuilt from the ground up about half the size.
So, would China risk waiting six years until Trump is out of the White House?
In six years’ time, the Chinese economy would be comparable to that of Venezuela.
Then, would they send somebody after Susan Thornton, to get her to pay for the bad advice?
