Gowdy claims Clinton hatchet man Sidney Blumenthal was used to corroborate Steele dossier
The Washington Examiner ^ | 5/15/2019 | John Gage

Trey Gowdy said that the FBI used information from Hillary Clinton hatchet man Sidney Blumenthal to corroborate the Steele dossier.

“I have seen each factual assertion listed in that dossier, and then I’ve seen the FBI’s justification. And when you’re citing newspaper articles as corroboration for a factual assertion that you have made, you don’t need an FBI agent to go do a Google search,” said Gowdy, a former South Carolina congressman and member of the House Intelligence Committee, in a Fox News interview.

“And when the name Sidney Blumenthal is included as part of your corroboration, and you’re the world’s leading law enforcement agency, you have a problem,” Gowdy said.

In 2018, Gowdy hinted that Blumenthal was responsible for the creation of the dossier.

"When you hear who the source or one of the sources of that information is, you're going to think, 'Oh my gosh, I've heard that name somewhere before. Where could it possibly have been?'" Gowdy said in February 2018.

Blumenthal worked with the Clinton Foundation and was an informal adviser to Hillary Clinton during her stint as secretary of state. Blumenthal has been a controversial figure, helping out with a “secret spy network” to give Clinton information on Libya.

He was responsible for giving another dossier containing some of the same salacious content on then-candidate Trump to a State Department official. The dossier was compiled by another Clinton ally, Cody Shearer, and was eventually given to the FBI to substantiate its own investigation.

In an interview released Wednesday with the “Skullduggery” podcast, former FBI General Counsel James Baker said the FBI took the Trump dossier “seriously” but “not necessarily literally.”

Blumenthal would have been Hillary’s equivalent of Lavrentiy Beria or Heinrich Himmler.

Gowdy has decided to make a living being a news contributor now?

Mr. Gowdy is probably the biggest political disappointment that I can remember. Sharp insight, well spoken, the kind of person that could fillet an opponent before that opponent felt the knife.

Instead, he led a feckless investigation into what was incompetence at bare minimum, and very likely criminal. Once Gowdy sealed the deal on that investigation going nowhere, he bailed from elected office.

So much promise, so little delivery.

Why can't any of these "smart" people just say it.....

FBI, CIA, DOJ worked and coordinated with political and foreign agents to sabotage the TRUMP campaign in the 2016 Elections and the President of the United States in 2017 .

Aren’t those self-contradictory?

If only “the law” was applied to it’s fullest. Oh well, nothing to see here. Good bye America.

When Darryl Issa was making a big splash some years ago I said he was a complete blowhard and would get nothing done.

I was hammered by Freepers saying I was a defeatist and an idiot.

When Trey Gowdy started making some noise I said he was a complete blowhard and would get nothing done.

I was hammered by Freepers saying I was a defeatist and an idiot.

When Sessions came around and the talk was all about a zillion sealed indictments and Huber was going to take everyone down I said he was a complete blowhard and would get nothing done.

You get the drill.

I still have faith in Devin Nunes. I think he has actually been working in the shadows to do the right thing. I hope I am not wrong about him.

Sid Blumenthal may be the slimiest scum in the entire Clinton Crime Family Syndicate.

He's the Littlefinger of the cast.

I'm torn between believing that Republicans in the House were just feckless blowhards who folded when things got tough, and wondering if they were ultimately undermined by Boehner and Ryan.

Or both.

Adding Ace of Spades’ color commentary:

“Let’s give a sarcastic slow-clap to Jonah Goldberg, David French, Cap’n Bill Kristol, Charlie 3-Wives Sykes, Jonathan V. Last, Noah Rothman, AllahPundit, Tom Nichols, and all the rest of the Salon Hot 25 All-Stars who have so vigorously pushed a conspiracy theory incepted into their highly suggestible, childlike I-Want-To-Believe minds by the famously conservative and famously reliable Sydney F******g Blumenthal.

And of course repeat-offender ratf***er Cody Shearer.

Thanks, Genius Thought-Leaders, for biting so hard on the dreamcakes, fantasy pudding, and conspiracy-cotton-candy imagineered for you by this pair.

We already have CNN and MSNBC, fellas.

What the f*** do we need you for?”

“When Darryl Issa was making a big splash some years ago I said he was a complete blowhard and would get nothing done.”

I didn’t fall for Issa’s bs. He’s comes across as a bad used car salesman.

Gowdy got me. I had hope for Sessions, but for him it was more of a wait and see. I waited, and I saw, Sessions is a swamp creature.

I don’t know what to make of Nunes. He seems to be fighting the good fight, but the measurable are not there, yet.
