Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told Iraqi officials that U.S. intelligence showed Iran-backed militias moved missiles near bases housing American forces.
Pompeo made the disclosure to Iraq’s top brass during his surprise visit earlier this month, Reuters reported. The revelation comes just hours after all non-emergency personnel at the U.S. Embassy in Iraq was ordered to leave the country.
He asked the military officials to keep the Shi’ite militias in control as they are expanding their presence in the country and now are part of the country’s security apparatus. The top diplomat warned that otherwise, the U.S. would have to use force to tackle the security threats.

As for the Saudis, they have their nuts, just as we do. Is AOC “America”, in the bigger picture? James Comey? (We better hope not!)
Realistically though, it’s global need for Saudi (etc.) oil, more than the Saudis themselves, that drives that side of the equation.
OTOH, I rather doubt ground action by US forces is needed, unless there are facilities just too deep & well protected for even our best bunker-busters.
There is little doubt that the sanctions are causing economic,social, and political instability within Iran. There are those who wish to lash out and strike at the american presence which they view as the source of their grief and frustration. There are those who have no love for America but realize that once shooting starts. Iran’s nuclear facilities, well mapped by Mossad, will be quickly destroyed, the Revolutionary troops and especially their leaders will be targeted and the regime itself might fall.Suspect the moderates still have the upper hand but the situation is volatile. Those young American sailors on capital ships in the Gulf are at considerable risk.

Why are we inching toward a war with Iran while we are fleeing from confronting a communist dictator of Venezuela who operates closer to our own backyard?
I guess most of the forum wants Trump to go back to the original nuclear deal that Obama, and John Kerry hammered out with Iran in full appeasement. But why stop there? While we’re at it let’s also give China the entire South China Sea,and everything in between while also completely pulling out of the Korean Peninsula,move our embassy out of Jerusalem back too Tel Aviv, give Russia back all of Eastern Europe along with also portions of Western while also fully recognizing North Korea as a complete Nuclear State.
The enemies of The United States (including Democrats) would probably come to a Conservative site and mess around.

We should have obliterated Iran after the barracks bombing. For all of the good President Reagan did, this was appalling to just lob some Battleship NJ salvos into Lebanon. Iran also is responsible for shape charge IED’s in Iraq and Syria resulting in more American soldiers murdered.

Because Venezuela doesn’t supply oil to 40 percent of the world’s countries, many of which are our European “allies”. The Euros don’t have, and won’t assemble the naval forces necessary to protect the oil tankers they so desperately rely on; why should they? Our navy is obviously big enough, mean enough and fully capable of taking care of all the free world’s problems, right?
Let’s just leave the middle east and let the whole thing fall apart.
The US needs to demand Iraq control the actions of these militias.

Those were not “the Saudis”, those were terrorists who were also against the Saudi government.
