A fiery New York Times piece has claimed President Trump is clawing at the "conventional fabric of this country" and "may well become the first American king, lawless and unaccountable."
The piece, penned by columnist Charles Blow for the outlet's Sunday edition, issued the dire warning to readers amid the administration's ongoing battle with House Democrats in the aftermath of Special Counsel Robert Muellers report.
"We are drifting dangerously close to an imperial presidency that exists above and outside the rules we thought were designed to prevent such an occurrence," Blow wrote.
Blow backed his extreme warning by pointing to the letter from hundreds of former federal prosecutors, who said they believed Trump would have been indicted by Mueller for obstruction of justice if he weren't president.
"Each of us believes that the conduct of President Trump described in Special Counsel Robert Muellers report would, in the case of any other person not covered by the Office of Legal Counsel policy against indicting a sitting President, result in multiple felony charges for obstruction of justice," the prosecutors' statement read.
Blow said the "only avenue" for Congress is impeachment, but Republicans "have declared Trump their king and bowed to his maleficent majesty," while House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Ca., has been "overly cautious" of pursuing impeachment.
Blow said as the 2020 presidential election draws nearer, he fears Democrats will be more wary of impeaching Trump.
"Trump may well become the first American king, lawless and unaccountable, by default, by an overall political paralysis," he concluded.
The piece comes after a writer for the Times, which Trump often accuses of being biased against him, last month backed one of the president's signature policies -- his border wall.

Blow. Heh.
“...Does anyone know?...”
Why no....Hell, Blow doesn’t even know...he just wrote what sounded good to him...Truth and fact means nothing to a liberal....
Was he asleep during Obie's regime, or was te fact his lips were firmly placed to his backside affect his perspective?
Charles never met a white republican and maybe white person period that he could ever stomach.
Oh, like 0bama almost did?
There are specific memes along the lines of the Warhammer 40,000 God Emperor with Trump’s face. They are hilarious.
I guess one man’s “lawless king” is another man’s FEARLESS LEADER
DEAL WITH IT
Bitching about a coup based which is based on false evidence is not obstruction
King? More like Schlong Lord From the 5th Dimension
Our Constitution embodied a UNIQUE IDEA. Nothing like it had ever been done before. The power of the idea was in the recognition that people's rights are granted directly by the Creator - not by the state - and that the people, then, and only then, grant rights to government. The concept is so simple, yet so very fundamental and far-reaching.
America's founders embraced a previously unheard-of political philosophy which held that people are "...endowed BY THEIR CREATOR with certain unalienable rights.." This was the statement of guiding principle for the new nation, and, as such, had to be translated into a concrete charter for government. The Constitution of The United States of America became that charter. Other forms of government, past and present, rely on the state as the grantor of human rights. America's founders, however, believed that a government made up of imperfect people exercising power over other people should possess limited powers. Through their Constitution, they wished to "secure the blessings of liberty" for themselves and for posterity by limiting the powers of government. Through it, they delegated to government only those rights they wanted it to have, holding to themselves all powers not delegated by the Constitution. They even provided the means for controlling those powers they had granted to government. This was the unique American idea. Many problems we face today result from a departure from this basic concept. Gradually, other "ideas" have influenced legislation which has reversed the roles and given government greater and greater power over individuals. Early generations of Americans pledged their lives to the cause of individual freedom and limited government and warned, over and over again, that eternal vigilance would be required to preserve that freedom for posterity.
Nonsense. We know that he is under the firm control of the Zionist dog Netanyahu. The NYT showed a cartoon depicting this a few days ago!
May well become the first American king, lawless and unaccountable.”
Sounds like the NYT is going full Game of Thrones on Donald Trump, next we will hear that DJT is the mad king and has dragons hidden, ready to attack the hinterlands of America with fire and damnation. (Why not take advantage of a popular fantasy series, the elites at the NYT are sure the people wont know the difference between real and reel.
Its not Trump doing it. It’s the Demonrats.
Certainly an appropriate last name for that journalist.
