Doris was one of the many women bedded by ol’ Ski Nose. Most accounts indicate his wife, Dolores, knew about his affairs and tolerated it, perhaps because Bob never made any noises about leaving his family and she had full access to Hope’s huge fortune.

Other Hollywood wives were less forgiving. Jack Benny also had his share of paramours, and his wife, Mary Livingston, was aware of his escapades. By the end of his life, Jack had been banished to a small bedroom in his Beverly Hills mansion, supposedly “punishment” for his past misdeeds.

A beautiful, sweet, wholesome girl next door. Even when she was a super star.

She was a one-of-kind America’s Sweetheart and made the world a much better place.

You didn’t think Hollyweird was really any different before Weinstein & Cosby showed up, did you?

A favorite of mine also. Pillow Talk is one of my favorite movies.
I think I will watch it today in her honor.

First thing that came to mind...
"See the USA in your Chevrolet".

I'll bet that was quite the advertising success for GM. I remember seeing Doris in the intro of the "Chevy Show" film attraction at Six Flags Over Georgia. It was a "Cinesphere" building (probably an early step towards the IMAX theaters of today) with a 180-degree curved screen looming above rows of bench seats. The film featured first-person footage of a ride on a roller coaster, a ride down a raging river, a fast drive along a mountain road and a dash through city streets, complete with a panic-braking scene that made everyone reflexively step on a phantom brake pedal (in the latest Chevrolet model, of course).

Doris was featured in the film's closing credits, too, IIRC. Without her singing that jingle, I doubt that I would remember that from 1974.

She was one of those actresses that seemed to be in everything and then just dropped off the face of the earth.

I liked her best playing opposite Rock Hudson.

Doris Day : Doctor, there's so much I can learn from you.

Rock Hudson : As my father, the philosopher, used to say, "Knock at my door and I shall take you in."

Doris Day : Dr. Tyler, I'm knocking.

Rock Hudson : Miss Templeton, I'm taking you in.
