Yankees Fans Call for Boycott After Ban of Kate Smith’s ‘God Bless America’

Yankees fans are calling for a boycott in response to the team’s banning of Kate Smith’s version of God Bless America. The team ditched the late singer’s rendition after a they learned Smith had also sung some controversial songs about blacks back in the 1930s.

According to the New York Post Yankees fans have been bombarding social media with a multitude of criticism for the team’s decision to ban the singer from Yankee Stadium.

For instance, one fan wrote, “boycotting the Yankees until Kate Smith is back, otherwise I am kissing a half century of loyalty goodbye.”

Die-hard Yankees fan James Foley even sent a scolding letter to Yankee owner Hal Steinbrenner saying, “Your father [George Steinbrenner] is turning in his grave.”

Foley added that if the same standards used to ban Smith were turned against many of the most famous past Yankees players, many would be similarly banned, including such famed players as Babe Ruth.

“Why not purge the lot of them and be honest about your political correctness. Remove the plaques from Monument Park,” Foley scoffed.

Houndreds of thousands of NFL fans boycotted and it didn’t matter to a-holes who run the NFL. Will this be any different?

I've hated the fkn Yankees with an eye-bleeding passion for my entire life.

This includes their douche-nozzle fans - which are mostly Ricans, metropoloids, hood-dwellers and people who buy their hats because they want others to think they're from NY.

Why not be honest and disband the Yankees Organization for once not allowing black players? MLB should sell all of its assets and donate them all to the NAACP. Then they can reorganize as an entirely new entity.

As a Yankees fan it pissed me off no end. Made fun of them using her for so long it was like “did they dig her up again?”

But no leftist POS is going to tell them they can’t use a patriots version of GBA because of songs she may have sung, that had no significance back 75-80 years ago.

With those criteria, every one of the original 16 major league franchises is guilty of racism and discrimination. No team had any black players until 1947. The Red Sox were the last team to integrate, in 1959.

So she sang some Broadway songs in the 1930s that are politically incorrect today? So she sang someone else’s lyrics.

The major leagues should think a bit before getting high and mighty about something someone sang in the 1930s. There were no blacks on a major league baseball team until 1947. Oops.

The entire team can't be brain-washed....lets see a show of hands with their names.....

Kate Smith is an American Icon who did more to entertain the American GI during WWII, that history is etched in granite which George Steinbrenner was a part of.

POTUS and other GOP candidates should use it as a campaign song.

So if is this so outrageous why didn't they ban her years ago?

There are magnets etc that say: Welcome to Yawkey Way--Home of Fenway Park/Boston Red Sox. Only the city of Boston now calls it Jersey Street because team owner Tom Yawkey was seen as a racist (Yawkey railroad station is now "Landsdowne") even though Yawkey gave millions of dollars to charity through a foundation. If the name Yawkey was so offensive why didn't current owner John Henry push right away for it to be renamed?
