Those gaps south of Sierra Vista are significant, although the fence in Pima county will held us the most.

This is bollard wall, not the short bollards used as vehicle barriers. Am sure you know that but when comments were open for the stretch in NM some were confused and thought it was the bollard vehicle barrier and sent emails that said they didn’t want it.

I agree we don’t need more vehicle barrier...but these projects are to replace vehicle barriers with tall bollard wall, which has actually been happening since Trump took office...YAY!!

Just trying to head off confusion.

Tammy FYI,

The 46 miles recently awarded in New Mexico has been protested by a losing contractor (Fisher Industries). They protested both contracts awarded at that time (the first two using DoD money, which were awarded amazingly quickly).

The other (Yuma, AZ) contract has already been rescinded, so that might happen to the New Mexico one as well. We will have to see. I expect a rapid re-compete for Yuma.

Those two contracts went to different vendors (Barnard and SLSCO). Although the basis for the protest was on the process not allowing fair and open competition, Fisher also argued that Barnard would take three times as long as Fisher would. So past performance might be an issue with just one of those contract re-looks.

No determination has yet been made on the New Mexico protest - it is on hold until that is settled.

I had heard that, in the past many have had bid protests of one kind or another. I think eventually it will be built. We shall see.

Please comment! Note the impact illegal aliens are having on this environmentally sensitive area and the need to close the remaining gaps.

“I think eventually it will be built.”

I really have no doubt. I think it is just a matter of a few months.

It is actually fairly routine to have at least one losing bidder protest. Relatively few protests are successful. Mostly it is just a delay, that is routinely planned as part of the schedule.

Can the public donate? The government spends my tax money on things I don’t agree. I’d be willing to donate to something I agree. Maybe even get a tax deduction.

“Can the public donate?”

No (and no need).

Congress would have to specifically authorize donations for that purpose. They have not (and won’t).

The Mexican border has always been contentious and there have been frequent armed interchanges with Mexican Armed forces along with bandits and smugglers.

Democrats with their open border jingo bingo should not be allowed to allow to pervert the concept of sovereignty get twisted into being propagandized as “White Nationalism”. Use of that term is usually directed when the immigration issue is brought up to devalue of the protections an American citizen have by being one.

By allowing the hordes illegally entering the US through the Mexican border avoid recognizing and dealing with the 2nd class treatment that American citizens get while legally residing in Mexico which not just includes denial of voting privileges but employment, and land ownership in their name.

All of which when given to illegals and property ownership by them is used in territory of states which Mexico reclaims as theirs claims which we have been ignoring but could be problematical should any reclaiming effort by regime changes in Mexico arise , Our border with Mexico has always been contentious. Those barriers are a must .

Rarely is this brought up. It’s Known As Reciprocity. We should be treating anybody illegally crossing the Mexican border into the US the way the Mexican’s do treat any American illegally doing the same.crossing into Mexico. Entry denied, fined, and possible imprisonment, then deported .

It’s time we consider illegal entry by any person who is a non Mexican citizen illegally entering the United States through the US Mexican border a defacto Mexican citizen with limited Mexican constitutional rights subject to their laws while transiting. As well as any Mexican citizen entering illegally exempting those who do so legally and meet US citizenship requirements.

children’s children if not aborted will be paying for

Americans legally in Mexico Besides being unable to vote one must also be a citizen to own land and Mexico is very restrictive about granting citizenship. Because of that a US citizen besides not being able to vote, and cannot have title in their name to any land property in Mexico.

And until that is changed the US and the affected state should consider making that reciprocal. Prohibit any illegal entrant employment, voting, and land ownership privileges fully enforced .In other words Sneak into this country before expulsion no job no voting no landowning ..

Partner, Aliens do not have any rights whatsoever as said in the U.S. Constitution.

We had U.S. Troops in Mexico City during the Mexican War and it was in 1848 when these Troops were in Mexico City.

We need this Southern Border Wall so bad right now and I agree that we can not have any spaces at all. This wall must be continuous all along our Southern Border. We already had a War breakout on this matter.

If we have another war with Mexico, then we will start a wall that runs east from the Gulf to west Pacific ocean just north of Monterrey, Mexico.
