Wayne LaPierre expensed $39,000 in clothes in one day, $18,300 for car and driver, ad agency says; NRA says board has full confidence in him
National Rifle Association CEO Wayne LaPierre billed the groups ad agency $39,000 for one day of shopping at a Beverly Hills clothing boutique, $18,300 for a car and driver in Europe, and had the agency cover $13,800 in rent for a summer intern, according to newly revealed NRA internal documents.
The documents, posted anonymously on the internet, provide new details of the clothing, travel and other expenses totaling more than $542,000 that Ackerman McQueen Inc. alleges Mr. LaPierre billed to it.

A dude can look good and still not spend $39,000 in a “boutique”. Wayne’s got to go.
Why does everyone keep saying he has to go? Maybe you should consider if you should be supporting such excess? Maybe the NRA has lost its way?
Consider this, the NRA is to gun owners what Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are to blacks.
Neither want to solve anything because they have created an industry for themselves.
Neither has any product or any liability but make money hand over fist, its a incredible business model!! Pure profit.
How many times has the NRA sold out this clearly stated phrase, A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. ?
If this article is true it just goes to show how much of a clear divide there is between the ruling class elites (which LaPierre is a member obviously) and us peasant commoners.
Is this allegation true? That is the first question that everyone should be asking. If it turns out to be true, then LaPierre needs to be gone and the entire board should be required to resign. If they don’t do this then the NRA is gone. That would only benefit the Democrats.
“Example number one million that every office should have a term limit.”
Exactly.
Play in the Big Leagues, buy Big League clothes.
Bullet proof suits aint cheap!
How in the world does someone spend that much on clothes in one day?
I suspect they were not all for him??? SOmething strange about this.
Agree 100%. NRA has been dealing with the beltway so long they’ve become part of the swamp
They had a chance but chose poorly in keeping Wayne over Ollie. This will hurt if Board does not oust Wayne and ask North to come back.
No wonder they keep calling me for donations. Misuse of funds is why I stopped donating to the Florida Republican party years ago.
Pursuit of litigation is a dangerous double-edged sword. The NRA sued their long-time advertising agency, accusing them of overbilling and failing to provide adequate support for expenditures for which they were seeking reimbursement. It seems that someone in the know is now revealing that Mr. LaPierre may have been in on (and perhaps one of the principal beneficiaries of) the alleged overbilling scheme. Stay tuned.
WLP is Executive VICE President. Ollie was President.
I like Ollie but I extended for five years within a week after Ollie “quit”.
I don’t think people realize what it takes to run an organization like that these days. The expenses that have come out seem very mundane compared to executive salaries and expense accounts in larger corporations.
A lot of normal, middle class people just cannot fathom what it takes to do what these people do.
Some years ago, I was in the entourage of a CEO of a well known company in the automobile industry. As a head of corporate communications/investor relations, we budgeted millions in travel, events, clothes for the exec, etc. We were not unique.
He would go make a speech at a local industry conference and we would have two rented vehicles with drivers, and 6-8 people assisting. Presentation designer, equipment guy, admin person or two, technical subject experts, press liaison, and me - the communication boss.
All in salary and expenses for the day could be $30K-$50k. That would be a drop in the bucket compared to doing an exhibit at the Tokyo Motor Show, or Frankfort Motor Show, or sponsoring an event like The Grand Prix of Detroit, etc.
(All of which I did.)
$39K would buy out a Men’s Warehouse. I guarantee it.
I doubt Ive spent $39,000 on clothes in the last 15 years.
Bye bye, Wayne.
L
OMG!! This is DISGUSTING!! No WAY should anyone be able to charge this to an ORG!
I assume you do not make speeches to hundreds of people every day while wearing one of your two JC Penney suits.
Whose bidding is Ollie doing? Establishment spook using establishment media. LaPierre is paying for the “European style socialists” speech at CPAC.
And no pot involved
Dude wears a black suit, white shirt, and black tie in 90% of his images on the web. The suits don’t look expensive. For what he sloppily wears a couple of hundred dollar suit would be more than enough. And news flash clothes are made to be worn more than once.
He is an jerk for spending donations like a President of a large corporation. If he is wasteful on his vanity, he is wasteful on all.
