Does it take place before or after the American Civil War II?

What if Congress was populated by intelligent people who weren’t always trying to destroy our country?

What if we decided not to drive off the climate cliff?

But not driving off the climate cliff is driving off the climate cliff.

Furthermore history is littered with climate cliffs - civilizations having to pack up and move to places where the rain falls and the floods don't flood except periodically when you need floods, like the Nile Basin.

Written by quill pen:

“it was really cold today and I have to write fast because I’m out of my candle allotment for the week. It’s hard to sleep when I am so hungry and don’t have any more climate-safe food coupons for the week”

I’m hopeful that we can migrate somewhere warmer. We’re so close to getting the solar panels and batteries to work 25% of the time, but my parents have been sick constantly and could use somewhere warmer to keep them safer.

There’s also been the problem of unemployment, but on the plus side the government is issuing work permits and food coupons in exchange for people digging the mass graves... which is taking care of the burial problem we had.

thank God we saved the earth in time!”

Maybe I’m just overly pessimistic and just basically misogynistic, but I just don’t see AOC learning basic thermodynamics, even if she’s got a couple of decades to do so. But if she can power the future on rainbows and unicorns, maybe she ought to try it out on a small scale first - Venezuela is an option: what have they got to lose?

What if the Soviets hadn’t spent the 1950s , 1960s and 1970s infiltrating our government, our education system and our media?

Fantasy Island resembled a documentary more than this diatribe. Note that she starts by stating “when we won the presidency and took over the Senate in 2021...”, then goes through her claptrap about “sweeping new changes and legislation.” Finally, a woman takes here seat “in 2028.” Is it a coincidence that this would be the same year that would end the two terms a Dem president would serve if elected in 2020 and reelected in 2024? You tell me.

In the meantime, great fantasy. Too bad that bubble will burst in 2020, IF we can keep the “vote harvesters” out of our ballot counting.

So first of all she lied about riding Amtrac when it was reported before she flies all the time. The New Green Deal backers message to us is: If you don’t have a private jet, own one or more limos, live in the most exclusive neighborhoods in America and don’t have a personal wealth in the millions, kneel at the New Green Deal altar and cut your throat to save the planet for us.

... a ‘bullet train’ from NY to DC.

Second pic: AOC on train. DC in backgound
.. she has gray hair streak

Third pic : Dc drop on people
2019 a Freshman Rep
‘most diverse congress’ claim
7 women reps ‘of color’ dropped on. AOC, etc.
.... (men need not apply ?!?)
children in our community... they were so ‘inspired’ to see this new class of politician
Drop on 4 girls ‘of color’
that reflected them navigating the halls of power
slogan drop ‘you cant be what you cant see’
... (ALL MEN excluded from this message !!!)

4th pic: Jump to “Green New Deal”
‘we knew we needed to save the planet’
‘all the technology to do it’

people were ‘scared’

said it was
1: too big
2: too fast
3: not practical
4: excuse ‘we cant picture it yet’
... now that is cheeky !

5th pic: Flash back
1977 New York
James Black presentation ‘burning fossil fuels raising temps 4-5 F

6th pic: Supertanker outfitted, lab, co2 measure
blames Exxon ‘exxon knew’ line.
blames our Politicians. They knew too.

7pic: James Hansen 10 years later
NASA’s top climate scientist
... NASA does not have climate scientists. Not their business. so 1988. (year before she was born)
- “97% certain global warming was happening and cause by humans”

8pic: did exxon listen to the science, including their own?
change business models , invest in renewables
...
no, the opposite, doubled down.

spent millions setting up network of lobby groups and think tanks to create ‘doubt and denial’
‘to attack and dispute the very kind of science they themselves had been doing.
and it worked

9pic Politicians went to bat for big oil
digging and mining and drilling and fracking like there was no tomorrow
... drill baby drill
America became the biggest producer and consumer

Fossil fuel companies made 100s of billions.
Public paid the lion share to clean up their disasters.
... who boy !

11 pic: all black we lost a generation of time we will never get back
entire species we will never get back.
... planet extinction rate has always been very, very high
... natural wonders gone forever

12pic: 2017 back to green
Hurricane Maria destroyed where my family was from - Puerto Rico.
‘it was like a climate bomb’
‘it took as many American lives as 9/11’

and in the next year, when I was elected to Congress, another leading climate scientist declared another emergency. They told us that

13pic ‘12 years to cut emissions in half’
or 100s of millions of people more likely to face food and water shortages, poverty, and death
... wow
‘twelve years to change everything’
... how we got around
... how we fed ourselves
... how we made our stuff
... how we lived and worked
... everything (underlined in red)

14pic: Only was to do that was to change our economy, which was already broken.
piramid picture. 2 on top, 24 on bottom
35 money bags on top, 3 bags on bottom
‘most folks falling further and further behind’

‘it was a true turning point’

hands wash over rejoining the pyramid and redistributing the wealth evenly to everyone...

15pic lots of people gave up ‘we are doomed’
some of us remembered we knew how to pull together. we had to try. soldier, rosie riveter.

16 pic: Began when democrats took back the House in 2018.
and the Senate and White House in 2020

Launched the ‘Decade of Green New Deal’

a ‘Flurry of Legislation’

kicked of our socialogical and economic transformation to ‘save the planet’

Kind of ‘swing for the fence’ ambition we needed.

Finally entertaining solutinos on the scale of the crisis we faced.

‘without leaving anyone behind’.

Medicare for All - most popular social program in American history
Federal Jobs Guarantee - Public option, dignified living wages for work

17pic: Funilly enough, biggest problem was a labor shortage

- Bulding a National Smart Grid
- Retrofitting every building in America
- Trains like this one (bullet train)
- ‘we needed more workers’

18pic: That group of kids from my neighborhood
in the middle.
especially one girl Iliana
... MEN NEED NOT APPLY

first job
- Americor Climate - restoring wetlands and bayous in Coastal Louisiana
- most of her friends in her union
- Including some ‘oil workers in transition’
- they took apart old pipelines
- they started plantong mangroves
- with the ‘same salary and benefits’
... mangroves ?!?

huge gaps in pur knowledge on how to ‘heal the land’

luckily ‘indigenous communities’ offered ‘generational expertise’to guide the way.

19pic: Illiana got wrestless, tried her hand at
- Solar Plant Engineer
- Made her carreer raising the next generation as part of
- Universal Childcare Initiative
... lol

20pic As it turns out
- careing for others is ‘low carbon work’
- paid real money to
- teachers
- domestic worjers
- home health

21pic big storm years of massive change not all good
- Hurricane Sheldon (lol) hit Southern Florida
- parts of Miami went underwater for ‘the last time’
- as we battled the floods,
- drop in 4 male fire fighters
- we were lucky to start acting when we did

22p ic didnt just change infrastructure, changed how we did things
‘modern and wealthy’ but ‘dignified and humane’ too
13 pictures of people
comitting to universal rights
- health care
- meaningful work for all
‘stopped being so scared of the future’
... are you scared of the future, if you are scared, say your scared.
... we stopped being ‘scared of each other’
... we ‘found our shared purpose’

23pic Illiana heard the call too
- in 2028 she ran for office

‘we can be whatever we have the courage to see’

25 end credits
