Statement from the Department of Defense on Additional Forces to U.S. Central Command
U.S. Department of Defense ^ | May 10, 2019 | Press Operations

Posted on 05/11/2019 3:15:29 AM PDT by Candor7

The Acting Secretary of Defense has approved the movement of USS Arlington (LPD-24) and a Patriot battery to U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) as part of the command’s original request for forces from earlier this week.

These assets will join the USS Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group and a U.S. Air Force bomber task force in the Middle East region in response to indications of heightened Iranian readiness to conduct offensive operations against U.S. forces and our interests.

The Department of Defense continues to closely monitor the activities of the Iranian regime, their military and proxies. Due to operational security, we will not discuss timelines or location of forces.

The United States does not seek conflict with Iran, but we are postured and ready to defend U.S. forces and interests in the region.

USS Arlington is a San Antonio-class ship that transports U.S. Marines, amphibious vehicles, conventional landing craft and rotary aircraft with the capability to support amphibious assault, special operations, or expeditionary warfare missions.

USS Arlington also provides a high quality command and control capability and improved interoperability with our allies and partners in the region.

A Patriot battery is a long-range, all-weather air defense system to counter tactical ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and advanced aircraft.

Kim Jong Un calls for 'full combat posture'

And the US sends additional forces to the middle east. Little Kim desperately wants attention too.

When I was in the Navy between 1982 to 2002 we always had at least one Carrier Battle Group in the Gulf and as many as three including at least one Amphib Battle Group. I just don’t get what the hoopla about!

FWIW, I would have thought our Navy already had a ship in the Gulf, but I'm just an old lady, so I have no practical basis for my assumption.

I would imagine that just the threat of a movement by the Trump team causes folks over in sand land to pay attention.

President Trump sent a calling card right out of the gate of his 1st term in office.

Wheh I was in the Marine Corps we always had an Amphibious Landing Force in the Mediterranean. Used to call it the “Med Cruse”. If your unit was assigned to it you would be on a three month deployment to the Med. After three months on station new group was sent out and when it arrived in the Med the old group was sent back to Camp LeJune. Same for the Caribbean, except that landing force was on a one month rotation. Unless President Trump dispatched a second group just for this effort it’s a regular thing. And the group just sent over may be the one that is replacing the old one and just got there a little early or the old one will hang around for contingency’s.

One more detail, the Arlington wouldn’t travel alone. It would have to have some kind of fire power support to go with it. They wouldn’t expose that asset to a nut case in a speed boat. There will be a couple of destroyers and a fueling ship someplace very close by.

God protect our men and women and our Commander in Chief.

May our Lord stop the advance of the wicked men and women outside and inside our borders....those who feign allegiance to this nation and those who worship foreign idols.

And to God ALONE be the glory.

Amen.

Anybody think that Kim may essentially be a hostage in his own country, kept that way by the deep state?

No announcement necessary, or expected, about B-1Bs and B-52s on Diego Garcia and Guam.

There’s AT LEAST 20 more within range.

And that doesn’t even count those available in the European theater.

That’s the thing about strategic bombers, they got RANGE.

Close, yes.

In company, no.

It’s but a 25000 ton LPD. It’s designed for small, tactical engagements with combined forces of SEALS and Marines. Little, sneaky stuff.

It will likely be within 100 miles of the CVBG at all times. but does not warrant its own escort.

It’s not an Amphibious Assault Ship (LHA).

You have a point. And Chairman Mao was a
puppet being run by a cabal of rickshaw
owners who wanted to keep the Chinese too
poor to buy cars.
