The Pentagon says it is reallocating $1.5 billion to help pay for construction of 80 miles of wall at the U.S.-Mexican border... Congress was being notified of the move, which follows the Pentagon's decision in March to transfer $1 billion from Army personnel budget accounts to support wall construction. Some lawmakers have been highly critical of the Pentagon shifting money not originally authorized for border security. The combined total of $2.5 billion is in response to President Donald Trump's declaration of a national emergency at the border

The National Emergencies Act authorizes the President to re-program un-obligated funds from those accounts, for construction related to an emergency that the President may declare.
Those funds are appropriated for a five year period for projects, but the money is just obligated a bit at a time, as progress payments to contractors. So next year’s money is already sitting in the account (legally appropriated).
The House of Representatives intends to file a lawsuit when the Administration takes money from there - which should be coming up soon, after the easier money is spent.

That was the justification of the so-called “muslim ban” that the President enacted, and the courts enjoined. It went all the way to the Supreme Court, which upheld it in December of 2017. It remains in effect.

I am in favor of our President. I also am frustrated by his complacency and the false premise that he has to wait on the communists to vote his way. He absolutely does NOT! I am hearing that at least we are working on 36 miles on new wall. We need 2000 miles of new wall going up rapidly. We need troops grabbing invaders and kicking them back out. No higher calling of the US military exists than to protect our borders from invasion of illegal aliens.What I see is “catch and release” of over 100,000 worthless parasite illiterate non English speaking illegal aliens PER MONTH and ZERO being done about it!

40 miles done, 126 on contract and underway, hundreds more heading onto contract this year, with the big money from the emergency declaration.
The pace of construction is ramping up sharply as we head through this Summer and Fall. Should be doing about a half mile a day later in the year.
Top of the line stuff, carefully prioritized where it is needed most first.
It takes a while to ramp up a major construction project, but we are off to the races now.
Cancel the check Obama sent to Iran and get the cash back.

It is the same basic bollards. The Military temporarily deployed to the border have been emplacing concertina, among other functions. The have strung about 200 miles worth. When it is hung on the American side of bollards, it makes them much more resistant to a ladder and rope, or ladder and slide attack.
There are a bunch of features that come with the visible bollards (sensors, alarms, cameras, lights, roads), that greatly improve detection and response. They are also supper strong against other attacks like breaching, tunneling or ramming through with a vehicle.

Its a possibility for next year. So is asset forfeiture from drug cartels. El Chapo Guzman is on trial now, and up to $13 billion might be available to seize if he’s convicted - and he would be a Mexican paying for the wall.
