Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Wednesday accused conservative Democrats of acting “like the Tea Party,” in response to a report that a Democratic congressman had labeled her and other freshmen colleagues as the “Herbal Tea Party.”
Ocasio-Cortez shared a story by The Intercept on Josh Gottheimer, a member of the House Democratic caucus who has apparently targeted progressive representatives including Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib, and called them the Herbal Tea Party. The story states that Gottheimer met with Tlaib and freshman Democratic Representative Elaine Luria and pointed out Tlaib’s statements condemning Israel in a way that made her feel bullied.
“Breaking down Tlaib, Omar, and their allies on the left has been one of Gottheimer’s primary goals since the November elections,” the story states. “He has worked assiduously to carve out a role in the Democratic caucus as something of an avenger, a centrist proud of his centrism and willing to take the fight directly to the squad of freshmen trying to push the party in a progressive direction.”
Ocasio-Cortez, who has been pushing progressive policies and is seen as being in the same camp as Tlaib and Omar, took issue with the story.
“What’s funny is that there *are* Dems that do act like the Tea Party- but they’re conservative,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted. “They threaten Dem votes to get concessions for a small minority, tried to hand Speakership to the GOP, fundraise $ w/ Mike Pence, etc Progressives don’t do that.”
Ocasio-Cortez then hit back at the Herbal Tea Party name by saying, “And I drink coffee.”

Cortez thinks the Post Office should run the banks. Now they can lose more than letters......like lose all your money, have long lines, and people who just don’t care.
She is FOS. She knows damn well there are no current conservative Democrats in her party. That species went extinct in the 90’s.
Remember that to Stalinist/Maoist/Pol Potists like AOC, “Conservative” Demonrats are merely just Marxist-Leninists.

Progressive Democrats also act like Islamists, who are trying to tear our nation down to Muslim standards.
The last one for me was Zell Miller, and he was already a relic when he left. To me, you would have to go back to the forties or fifties to find Democrats who still held American values.
People talk about democrats like “Scoop” Jackson as being a conservative wearing Democrat colors. Well, “Scoop” was, in the end, a party hack. His behavior in the Army-McCarthy hearings in 1954 made that apparent.
Anybody out there still think that Joe Biden is going to walk away with this nomination?

That was baffling, too. Jackson scored a 93% leftist from the ACU in 1981, when a substantial number of Dem Senators were voting much more towards the actual center thanks to Reagan. In fact, Jackson got the identical score of such “right-wing” stalwarts as Chris Dodd, George Mitchell, Carl Levin, Bill Bradley & John Glenn. Only Alan Cranston, the 2 Hawaiian Stalinists (Inouye & Matsunaga), Paul Sarbanes, Ted Kennedy, Harrison Williams, Howard Metzenbaum, Claiborne Pell & Pat Leahy voted to his left.
Jackson died with a lifetime score of 82% leftist.
NY Demons will screw the few Republican seats before they target her.
That radical freshman trio is what I call the terror caucus. Tlaib & Omar for their support of Political islam and AOC for terrorizing children that the world was ending in 12 years.
I’ll bet he or she (whomever that single “conservative” Democrat might be) will be crushed to hear this.
Actually it is not so baffling. The reason for the conservative halo around Scoop Jackson was his rhetoric, which was not fueled by activist fervor and pronouncements of injustices like that of people like Kennedy, Metzenbaum, Dodd, etc. His moderate rhetoric fooled the media into giving him the conservative moniker, his actual votes notwithstanding...
Baffling in that it was a pretty blatant falsehood. Of course, we didn’t have voting records at our fingertips way back when. That’s why the media was able to pull the wool over the eyes of countless voters for so long in painting so many of these characters as “center-right.” They did that with our 2 Senators from TN by the names of Sasser and Gore.
