The whole trade agreement’s negotiations were kept secret from the American public until leaked (to me that certainly means secretive). Under the accord, companies and investors would be empowered to challenge regulations, rules, government actions and court rulings — federal, state or local — before tribunals organized under the World Bank or the United Nations. Sounds kind of like an organization or two was involved.

And TPP seems more about the environment then trade (see below). So, I don’t really like your solution.

The Parties recognize the importance of mutually supportive trade and environmental policies and practices to improve environmental protection in the furtherance of sustainable development.

The Parties recognize the sovereign right of each Party to establish its own levels of domestic environmental protection and its own environmental priorities, and to establish, adopt or modify its environmental laws and policies accordingly.

Each Party shall strive to ensure that its environmental laws and policies provide for, and encourage, high levels of environmental protection and to continue to improve its respective levels of environmental protection.

No Party shall fail to effectively enforce its environmental laws through a sustained or recurring course of action or inaction in a manner affecting trade or investment between the Parties, after the date of entry into force of this Agreement for that Party.

A major feature of TPP was Intellectual Property protection. It would have put a dozen Pacific Rim companies in lock step to deal with the IP issues coming out of China. I agree that the explaining of the treaty to Americans was botched.

I still don't understand why you think Europeans are involved.

Because I am a big dummy, sorry. I read a few of the countries and my eyes glazed over, Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, and somehow I equated these democracies with Europe in my mind. Especially with all the environmental nonsense coming out of the EU recently.

Thanks for being so nice about my brain fart.

Yes, you will.

Yeah, the MSM and the Democrats have been promising us a recession for some time. I haven't seen it yet.

Nobel-Prize-winning Dr. Thomas Friedman (NYTs) agrees with member Poison Pill; however, Friedman’s prediction took place three years ago.

This guy?

I’d use him as a contra-indicator any day of the week. Read the bit about how he thinks individual countries have to give up some sovereignty for the sake of globalism, which he calls “golden handcuffs”.
