Denver Post Sports Writer, Nuggets' Coach Call For Gun Control After School Shooting

Just hours after the deadly school shooting in Colorado Tuesday, the coach of the NBA's Denver Nuggets called for gun control. Then Denver Post sports columnist Mark Kiszla joined in the call, declaring, "We love our guns more than we love our children" and demanding "the change" that translates to gun control.

Tuesday's shooting at the STEM School Highland Ranch south of Denver that left one victim dead and eight wounded prompted these knee-jerk demands that always follow gun violence.

Prior to the Nuggets' home playoff game against Portland Tuesday night, Coach Michael Malone (see photo of Malone's pre-game press conference) veered from basketball to the shooting. He lives in the Highland Ranch community and his daughters attend a school two miles away from the scene of the crime:

I think what we need is a mandatory, and expedited death penalty for mass shootings, defined as the killing of multiple people in a single attack. Three years from arrest to execution would complete the circle while the event is fresh in the minds of the public.

Someone once said “sports coaches have to be smart enough to get the job done, but dumb enough to think it matters.”

Malone fails on the former and fits the bill on the latter.

Democratic voters love guns, and while this twit is moralizing for political brownie points another bunch of semi-automatic pistols, probably Glocks were sold to Democratic voters.

This from the same city that is seriously discussing legalizing Magic Mushrooms for recreational use.

Denver could make history with vote on 'magic mushrooms'

“We love our guns more than we love our children”

No, moron, you missed the point. The point is that we 325 million people love our liberties more than we love any one or a few individuals among us. That is why people have volunteered for the armed forces since before we even became a nation, because they believed that creating or preserving a Constitutional Republic in which individual liberties are maximized is even worth laying down your OWN life over.

But these people know this. They KNOW that if you largely eliminate guns among the people, that later shoving dictatorial socialist policies down everyone’s throat is then much easier to do. This is about power - nothing more and nothing less.

Please see my tagline - that statement is as true of a statement as has ever been written.

Well, we still need Alyssa Milano to tell us what to think on this issue.

Don't bother them with any facts. Gun control failed here. It was illegal for those boys to buy those guns. They were stolen, probably from a parent.

So, just which gun control law, short of confiscation, would have prevented this?

How about what does work, mostly in inner city schools? Security. We secure our sports stadiums, why not schools? Or do you care more about yourself and your money than your kids, Kizla?

Hmmm. I love my kids warts and all and there are plenty, I appreciate firearms quite a lot. The nba (Nuthin’ But A-holes) could fold tomorrow and I wouldn’t care. At all.

Dang, isn’t that the truth. I was just looking forward to watching the Nuggets play the Portland trailblazer’s tonight, but not now. They have lost my support and, I’m sure, many others as well.

The Nuggets’ coach, another expert on an issue not related to a sport that is boring. Yes, boring, because when you miss layups and traveling isn’t called, it is boring. What is needed is today’s version of Magic, Bird and MJ!! People who play ball, not politics...
