Oh well, at least they didn’t have a misplaced Starbucks cup on the bill.

The abbot at the temple my wife goes to was in Toronto a few years ago, a month or two after Canada changed to plastic bills. The abbot left a metal box with several hundred dollars on the car seat while he shopped. He later discovered that all the bills were fused together.

In a few decades the ones that remain will become rare collector items. Not likely. Since this has been widely reported, people will hoard them thinking they will become valuable. And because of inevitable inflation, they will never be worth more than they are today.

Pretty amazing that Australia didn’t have a single woman in parliament until 1995.

Apparently, the plastic money is more durable, and more difficult to copy than the old paper money. Obviously, there are some BIG drawbacks.
To: metmom
I hope microtext is impossible to replicate on counterfeits.

I missed the misspelling of ‘responsibility’, I thought it for the misspelling of ‘emphasize’. Maybe they spell it as ‘emphasise’ in OZ.

I thought women were such great spellers?
My mom majored in English. My dad was an engineer.
The worst fights I ever remember them having were over his spelling.

***printed 46 million times***
No sweat! By flooding nation the 46 million misprints they destroy the collector value of the money.
Remember the Dag Hammarskjöld misprint postage stamp of 1962? When discovered by a collector, the post office printed millions of the stamp with misprint to destroy it’s collector value.

The life of paper money is short, these bills will disappear rapidly after much use. Not a real problem. Besides, who bothers reading micro-print?

Explains why they were late to open their immigration floodgates.
