Yesterday, out of the blue, I clicked on Howlin's Facebook page and learned that she'd passed away. I found her obituary and learned that she had departed on September 19, 2018 at the age of 72.
She was a mainstay at Free Republic and her last post there was on April 22, 2007.
I liked her a lot and I will miss her.
Lots of positive thinks you could accurately say about her. Courteous isn't one of them.
I did not know Howlin, but I make note that many conservatives of her ilk either left or refrained from posting from FreeRepublic. One have to wonder why? What do we do about this?
Auld Lang Syne
Bummer. He was one of the first people I built a rapport with here at FR.
Seemed like a very nice person.
She was my first buddy here.
Rest in Peace, FRiend.
Howlin was very nice to me when I first joined Freerepublic and always made me feel welcome. Thanks Howlin, rest peacefully.
One of my favorites.
Done in by passion for Rudy, which I shared (but somehow survived).
Does anyone who was here then now doubt the outcome of an Obama-Giuliani race in 2008? I sure don’t.
Howlin’ R.I.P.
I came across Howlin on some other forums after she left FR. But the old passion was no longer there. I think she just got burned out on politics.
Ping.
Howlin and some others left FR about the same time. I don’t
remember the circumstances but it was during the G W Bush
Presidency I believe.
So sorry to hear that. She was one of my favorites! I remember when she lost her son, and launched a campaign to get people to install carbon monoxide detectors.
...
I remember that, too. It was exhaust from a generator.
PING
Read her posts. IRRC she got a spanking ban and never came back.

I think that they left on their own. IIRC that crowd was responsible for getting a whole lot of border patriots zotted during the immigration wars here, when you risked getting banned if you objected to illegal aliens.
Howlin was a key contributor for quite a while. She was in on the Rathergate thread. See http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1212057/posts
greeneye, the administrator of the Garden Threads hasn’t been heard from since 4/20/19 and she posted almost every day. There is a possibility they were flooded out as they lived in Missouri...
I remember you, Howlin. Fair winds and Following Seas, Lass.
RIP Howlin - FR stalwart.
