The Boomer Age is drawing to its close. When one speaks of this group, it tends to mostly focus on white Boomers (not that others are outside the group, but to such a great extent, it really does mean those of mostly European background, if for no other reason than they have been the largest demographic group). When that age does end, we will see an ever dwindling European demographic majority in many Western nations (Canada and the USA are almost certainly the first, soon followed by a variety of European nations). That significant point of majority will be fading, as the numbers precipitously drop until below 50%. The question looming then is, what is next? Will it be the glorious Brave New World of harmonious multiculturalism or an uneasy balkanization that trends ever more to tribalism and violence? Based on existing evidence and studies, I believe that it will be closer to the latter.
A major demographic shift is impacting most Western nations, some more than others. This shift will lead to a far more multicultural/ethnic scenario, with those of European background as the minority within the next few decades. At first blush, many will say this is not a problem, holding out the wonders of civic nationalism and existing relative stability and prosperity with an already highly mixed demographic. The problem here is that this position doesn't really hold water in the long term, as can be demonstrated by existing nations who have not been able to sustain a similar state of peaceful existence and by studies that point in the same direction.

As it is practiced, Diversity isn’t truly diverse because it excludes whites and then proceeds to attach varying degrees of worth to everyone else.
The Rapture will happen before the Boomers are gone.
We should have refrained from giving our children smart phones. Parents have always been in danger of their children’s peers leading them astray, now there is no control whatsoever over who those peers might be.
I politely disagree. I’m a boomer from the 1949 generation. My parents raised me with a great deal of finesse. It is my generation that did poorly raising their children.
I don’t care which side wins or loses. I just want to be let off my chain once before I die.

I commented once upon a time that 3 groups immediately come to mind..which did not seem to share in “Progress”...Sub Saharan Africa lagged as did those folks populating Australia before whitety, and indians in the Americas generally all never got the wheel, writing etc etc ... I was called a racist for just saying those things....
Diversity is not an outcome to be achieved, rather, it is on obstacle to overcome!
I agree. Greatest generation were amazing parents. I’m a boomer. I lost control because my kids had phones and played video games. You can’t discipline them or they are trained to call the cops. My kid was 12 she called cops on me for taking away her cell phone.
When the Boomer generation retires, and stops producing tax revenue, the Welfare State collapses.

I’ve done things like take away phones and smash! tablets many times with seven grandkids through here. No one called cops until a 16 YO a few days before she eloped (was a very difficult time). However, officers immediately took my side and lectured her that what she was doing was unwise. I won. Then some time later relatives called cops on me, seeking to have the kids removed from my custody. I won again. Helps to have good, conservative cops who have their own kids and are empathetic. Also helps to have good public schools (rare) where counselors and teachers don’t automatically side against parents/guardians. Incidentally, with the five kids still here, no current problems.

The “greatest generation” loved their government pensions as much as anyone. They voted in FDR four times.
My boy threatened to kill me.
My daughter called 911. Cops arrived in 3 minutes. They read her the riot act. They were pissed. They told her that’s your parents phone and you are a GUEST in their home. We have excellent public schools and my kids had the same great guidance counselor. Thankfully in their 20s now.

Very close to what was said to mine especially since I am a guardian and need not have them here. Essentially no real problems since!
