US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has made an unscheduled, fleeting visit to Iraq, amid growing tensions with Iran.
Mr Pompeo cancelled a trip to Berlin to meet with Iraqi leaders during a four-hour stop in the capital Baghdad.
The visit came days after a US aircraft carrier was deployed to the region, which officials said was in response to threats to US forces and its allies from Iran.
On Tuesday it was revealed the US was sending B-52 bombers to the region.

Whatever happens should be over in short order. If US forces are attacked by Iran, then every known nuclear facility Iran has will be reduced to dust.

Iran is a threat to world peace and also an immediate threat to Israel as well as to Europe.
I agree so much with you I am standing clapping in resounding ovation. I am sick of fighting wars with our blood and our Trillions for Israel after they illegally bomb sovereign Syria . Nobody attacked them from Syria? WTH? Big boys need to go fight their own war if they want to fight. NOT THE USA!! Iran has 96 million people .This aint no Iraq here. NO WAY JOSE!! Build the wall!!

What we see is an Israel/Iran problem.
The US has problems with Mexico, yet I never see outraged people screaming for the IDF to hurry up and patrol our southern border.
The very concept is befuddling AND IT SHOULD BE.
The notion we have to hurry across to a different hemisphere and solve THEIR problems (at a cost of some trillion$ and thousands of our military people) should be, ALSO.

All that is true today, but all of that has been true since 1979.
In fact, during Operation Praying Mantis we were not only supposed to give the Mullahs a severe beating, we were supposed to take them down TOTALLY. Yet we were prevented by Caspar Weinberger.
Yet now that Gaza missiles are intercepted by Israel, all of this Hormuz stuff is being renewed and thrust beneath the noses of Americans:

Because a sucker, rich-until-now USA has been running a “war to go” drive-through window, no questions asked.
We are 23 trillion in debt, fighting FOUR wars, and we have over 3,000 invaders crossing our border every. single. night.
I can’t believe we’re even THINKING of adding another war to our War SuperSize order.

We are politely announcing our presence in the region. It’s really a formality since who is going to stop us?
You know as well as I do that we only strike first and it is truly a decisive strike. In this case, we are sitting by eagerly waiting for Iran to do something stupid so we can waste them.

30% of the worlds oil passes through the straight of Hormuz. If anything happens to interrupt that flow, imagine what will happen next.
An American aircraft carrier group is parking itself there to protect that flow of oil. Would you prefer the Russians or Chinese do it instead of us?
