NEW YORK Six female corrections officers have been charged with illegally strip searching women who visited the Manhattan Detention Center, the Manhattan District Attorneys office announced Monday.
According to court documents, the corrections officers routinely strip searched female visitors without their consent. This included forcing the visitors to remove their pants and underwear, touching the visitors breasts, and examining the visitors private areas.
Leslie-Ann Absalom 53, a former DOC captain, and DOC officers Daphne Farmer, 49, Jennifer George, 32, Lisette Rodriguez, 51, Alifa Waiters, 45, and Latoya Shuford, 36, have been all charged with official misconduct, unlawful imprisonment, conspiracy and various counts of filing false documents.
In order to cover up the unlawful searches, four of the officers filed false paperwork with the DOC and the Manhattan DAs office claiming the visitors gave consent for the strip search, prosecutors said.

The paperwork led to the arrest of three visitors whose charges were based on the illegal searches.
There is no excuse for violating the human rights of New Yorkers visiting our Citys jails, District Attorney Cy Vance said. As alleged, these officers flagrantly abused their power when they ignored their training and subjected visitors to humiliating and unlawful searches. Further, they attempted to cover up their actions by forcing visitors to sign consent forms under false pretenses, and repeatedly lying in official documents.
Correction Officers Benevolent Association President Elias Husamudeen released the following statement:
Manhattan Detention Center Correction Officers assigned to the Visit Area, arrested more than 50 visitors last year alone for attempting to smuggle in heroin, marijuana, cocaine, K-2 synthetic, razors, scalpels and other contraband. Everyday they do everything they can to keep this jail safe for visitors, inmates and correction staff. They deserve more public support for the diligent professionalism they exude every day.
Bunch of perverted lesbians ? Eeeeeew.
Five Blacks, one Hispanic, how nice! I guess this is what Trump calls a “resurgence” in minority employment!
Not one man in a dress? Do they discriminate in hiring?
6 SICKO BITC&ES throw their lives away.... BRILLIANT!
Well, my unit just turtled until I can find the eye wash...........
Visiting our cities jails? Is that the new term for prisoner?
Hmmm, I wonder what color the victims were? Was this a group of lesbos getting a sexual thrill or a group of POCs getting a hate thrill?

Lesbians versus drug smuggling convict visitors hmm

I’m speechless.
They can always get a job at the TSA.
“Hmmm, I wonder what color the victims were?”
“Equal opportunity” sexual assaults? What they did was “ok” because of “slavery!”
Fewer guards and use of the type of scanners/screeners we go through at the airports would probably be more cost effective.
Police find gun hidden in suspects buttocks during strip search
GOLDEN MEADOW, La. Deputies at the Lafourche Parish Jail in Louisiana found a gun concealed in the buttocks of a man arrested after police found a zip gun and homemade silencers in his truck.
Golden Meadow Police Department officers spotted suspicious activity at the home of Lori Dupuy on December 28th.
Keep your eye on this guy
When the officers approached to investigate, Dupuy gave them a false name and then fled the scene. Police then questioned Justin Savoie, who was also at the home.
During a pat down of Savoie, officers discovered a concealed handgun, marijuana, and a pipe used for smoking marijuana.
The officers also spotted a homemade zip gun on the floorboard of Savoies truck, which was parked with the door open, and found several additional firearms and homemade suppressors inside the truck after obtaining a search warrant.
While Savoie was undergoing a strip search during his processing into the Lafourche Parish sub-station, deputies found a small gun concealed in his buttocks.
The caliber and make of the gun has not been released.
Savoie was charged with first offense possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, a felony charge of taking contraband to penal institution, and a felony charge of improper registration of a firearm.
He was released after posting a $10,600 bond.
Dupuy is still at large and is wanted on two active warrants issued by Probation & Parole and the Golden Meadow Police Department.
Any illegal strip search?
That was probably filed by a social justice lawyer on behalf of his client who will do anything to harass the people that have her under their watch while she is incarcerated for crimes not specified. I’m hesitant to think that this is some kind of cabal in a Detention Center someplace secretly hidden in the e-vile gulag.
Some visitors just look like they could be trouble. Or maybe the visitors have priors? And the Detention Center checks and verifies who they let in there.
I had a friend who was a preacher that used to go to jail all over the state and preach and he had a prosthetic device for leg and he was strip-searched all the time. He didn’t care... they would take his leg off and check it all out... he said “hey I’m here to do God’s work not try to bust somebody out with a hacksaw blade.” And then he would invite the officers to pick a time and he would be glad to have worship with them as well.
It’s not common, but it’s also not rare.

Desert Eagle .50?
You knew someone would say it...
The article offers no alternative such as the traditional meeting room where everyone is three feet away talking through bulletproof glass barriers with a phone.
My solution does not include inanity like prosecuting the guards, and it absolutely precludes stupidity such as asserting that confiscating (througg strip searches) the drugs and weapons which mules bring in means that the guards are lesbians.
How about either legislatively require the searches, or even better build proper visitation facilities with bulletproof glass.
