Red Sox (whose owner John Henry also owns the Boston Globe) got city of Boston to change name of Yawkey Way back to Jersey St. This road borders Fenway Park and 4 Yawkey Way is, or was, Fenway’s address. Former Red Sox owner Tom Yawkey was seen as racist though Tom and Jean Yawkey gave money to and helped establish Yawkey Foundation, a charity helping minorities among others.
Nearby Yawkey commuter rail station changed name to Lansdowne.
Jersey St was named after Earl of Jersey, who owned and imported slaves I believe.
John Henry did not move to change the street’s name until recently despite owning team for years.
Our unassimilated minorities should have learned already from the NFL Kaepernick debacle that whites can walk away from the “bread and circuses” economy.
Attempts to mainstream certain ethnic groups have failed completely in terms of fitting them into our middle class; it is foolish to drive people away from the entertainment industry (including sports) when that is the only area in which you may flourish.
